The Olive Branch, Wimborne

We have visited some very poor managed Hall and Woodhouse pubs/restaurants, but this is the best we have found locally

Tasty original food in a lovely setting. Staff were really great, responsive but quite happy for us to sit and chat all afternoon.

Birthday treat. Family with small child. Catered for with puzzles and crayons. Good portions and friendly staff. Good value and good quality.

I booked a table and received confirmation, on arrival the table was not reserved even though it was quickly sorted it did make me wonder if it is worthwhile making a booking.

We enjoyed our meal. Very relaxed and unhurried. The service was good. We had two small children with us and would suggest a children's pasta would have been a good addition to the kids menu.

I use to work in the pub 20 years ago and the latest makeover made this pub a jewel in the decoration. The food is good, service is friendly. A newly revitalized food concentrated locally. Relaxed and seemingly popular with locals.

The olive branch is a favourite of mine for a pre theatre meal as it is so convenient to the Tivoli in Wimborne. Unfortunately it's not the quickest and took over 40 minutes to get the main course to our table despite it not being busy at 5.45 in evening. When the food arrived it was as always very tasty and service very pleasant.

Have always liked The Olive Branch but this time for lunch for 4 of us the service was friendly but poor, 35 minutes wait after ordering. It was not busy. Also waited a long time for coffee. 2 of us had tuna and watercress fish cakes which were tasty but were a little overcooked, dark brown not golden, left in the pan too long. A shame as we like the venue very much. On the expensive side.

I have always liked the Olive Branch since Day 1. However over the years the standard has been up down. This is the first time I've been since last August. I enjoy the location, being central, although the car park is a bit nightmarish! If you can't find a space have to leave, you can't get out without a code for the barrier, which means abandoning the car to go get the code. The service was reasonable almost verging on a delay for main course, being a Monday, was quiet. I had the chicken bacon Caesar salad which was acceptable, my dessert, however was disappointing . I opted for Elton Mess, a favourite, which I make myself often. There was hardly any fruit, what there was tasted like it had...
