"We popped in on impulse for a light lunch. We were comfortably seated, service is very good and helpful. Also toilet accommodation is clean and well run. We each had the homemade soup of the day: lentil, which was hot, tasty and served with a slice of the unusual and good corn bread which is supplied the bakers next door. I drank water but my wife had a good lemonade. There is a great selection of cakes to choose from and each one that we had was good, my wife's exceptionally so. The place is a bit dark inside, although it was a gloomy day. The café is so well and cheerfully run it's a nice experience all round."

Lovely little cafe with a great selection. Cake was outstanding, with great customer service. I’d also recommend the milkshakes.

Even at the busiest times, the staff have time to enjoy a friendly exchange and provide very efficient service. Great cakes and huge scones!

Great cafe. Our favourite in Kirkcudbright. So much that we visited twice in a week. We’ve had Halloumi Fries, Chicken Salad, Haggus loaded fries , Lemon Cheesecake, GF Courgette and Avocado cake. All superb. Lovely John Watt coffee.

We had an excellent lunch here (2 adults, 1 child). The menu had a great variety and the kids box was brilliant. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. The homemade soup was fantastic as were the scones. We wanted to eat...

I’ve visited this cafe many times and it is always friendly, they have dairy free coffees and vegan options to eat, as well as being lovely friendly people. All staff were wearing masks when I visited, the cafe was busy, but tables were cleaned and...

We were recommended this by a friend whilst on a trip in Scotland and it was definitely one of the highlights. Between four of us we had a variety of sandwiches, tomato veg and chickpea soup, halloumi fries, milkshakes coffees. Everything was very nice. We got a salted caramel cheesecake to takeaway and it was the best cheesecake I have ever had, and would say you cannot leave this cafe without trying one! Staff were very friendly and welcoming. It is definitely a 5 star rating from us

Made it at last for breakfast, before returning home. No big Scottish fry up but a delicious smashed Avocado, with two poached eggs and two rashers of bacon, on corn bread for me. A nice BLT for my wife. Beautiful looking cafe with unusual wooden tables and comfortable seating. Cappuccinos were nice but could have done with an extra shot or two. Orange juice delicious. The cake counter and serving area were a picture to look at and spotlessly clean. We couldn't resist buying some chilli cheese scones to take home. The toilets were also spotlessly clean and spacious.

We went in yesterday lunchtime for a quick bite to eat, we were quite hungry. Only table available still had a teapot and cups on but not a problem. We sat there for nearly 15mins with the two waitresses walking past, looking at us but not even a 'Good afternoon ' let alone 'be right with you ' We up and left. We come to Kirkcudbright 3 to 4 times a year and eat out with friends/family regularly. Was hoping to start going there with my girlfriends too, lost some good customer 's! Very disappointed, as Kirkcudbright is a lovely place and certainly not the way people normally get treated here!

"My wife found this when looking for a place for us to spend our wedding anniversary. It sounded good on paper. It was a long and tedious drive for us though and I wasn’t sure it was worth it. I was totally wrong! This place is superb and well worth any drive! The setting is great-it has its own beach and there is a small patio where you can sit and there is a heater there too if you need it. There’s a nice lawn in front of the hotel too where those with dogs took them for a walk. The rooms are all different and all well appointed with their own en suite. The costs of the rooms reflects the size of the room and not the facilities. If you are tall like me (6ft 2) I wouldn’t go for one of the rooms in the roof as the coomb ceiling is a pain. However the thing you go there for is the food and that is sublime! It is a set menu in the evening which reduces waste and helps control costs. You get 7 courses, all quite small , but at the end of the meal you are adequately fed but not full. We were there for 3 nights and had a different meal every night. All the dishes were superb but we had mushroom soup one night and it was the best soup I have ever tasted! In fact it was one of the best foods I have ever tasted! The breakfast is very good indeed and you can order whatever you like from the menu which is very comprehensive. I found that set me up for the whole day and I didn’t need a lunch. I must also mention the wine. The wine list is very comprehensive with some difficult to come by wines in it too like Chateau Musar. On 2 nights we went with the wine pairing list which I thought was very good value, especially the cheaper of the 2 lists we had every night. The hotel is a good centre for seeing things in the local area and , despite going in November we found things to occupy ourselves for the 3 days we were there. They have various themed weekends too which sound brilliant. But the hotel is so good it is worth going to anytime. We will certainly be back."
