"I love Japanese food, and coming from Sydney, I know we are spoilt for choice and quality when it comes to Asian food, but I still hold high hopes when I come to other cities, especially one as international as Zurich. So, I came to Metropol on my own after passing by the buzzy bar/cafe adjacent to the restaurant. As I was dining solo, I opted for an early sitting and was accommodated accordingly.There was only one other person dining in the restaurant, hence the atmosphere was pretty dull, but I accept that this was largely due to the fact that I was dining particularly early in the evening.No matter I thought, I am sure that the standard of food will be excellent given the chef only has to prepare the food for me.I was unfortunately wrong. Whilst the green salad I ordered initially was very pleasant, the sushi chef's selection of 12 different varieties was very ordinary. It was clearly not freshly prepared as the tempura prawn one was cold and soggy as was the beef with truffle that had been fried. The cold batter on the outside rendered it quite inedible.The fish on top of the nigiri was also rubbery and tasteless.I was surprised that this restaurant served this up, given it's prominent position in the town and the popularity of the adjacent bar/cafe. Perhaps the restaurant is just an afterthought and the bar/cafe is their main gig.The service was friendly enough; can't fault the waitresses, but the chef needs to re-engage with what really good Japanese tastes like. We have eaten much better in Sydney, even at the most humble of local Japanese restaurants.At the prices they charge, I would definitely not recommend this restaurant."

The drinks were good but not outstanding, the service of the slow side. Therefore the place was very expensive. I was there with a good friend, so we still had a good time.

I stopped in this place for couple times and I always liked it! Service is very good and the food as well. It has a still of a brasserie where you can come anytime during the day for a Coffee break or Lunch. Well located in the business area.

Even though I've passed the Metropol hundreds of times I never entered because it looked too snobby for my taste. Decided to have a go at the Japanese restaurant and was very impressed. Shared tempura and a sushi boat with my husband. Both were beautifully presented and delicious. I can't vouch for authenticity because I've never eaten in Japan - but for European (Swiss) standards, it was excellent. Our waitress was professional, attentive and friendly. The highlight of my visit was a trip to the WC which I won't write about in this review but it was a nice surprise for anyone interested in Zurich history. Next time I will return and try out the bar section for coffee and cake or a cocktail. Voir le carte

We were queuing outside at Metropol at around 4:40 p.m. on May 7th, 2023, as shown on the poster. We waited in vain for an employee to lead us to our seat. But several times a blonde lady who works there walked past us in an unfriendly manner, didn 't even greet us and made us wait for 10 minutes, then came past us again with a very arrogant look and changed the poster in front of us to we 're closing now !! I think if you work in a restaurant or with customers in general you should at least be friendly enough to greet your guests and politely tell us that unfortunately there are no more seats available and unfortunately they won 't let anyone in... Had dinner here last night and even though I don't think this place is on par with HATO or Alice Choo in terms of cuisine, it's a solid Japanese fusion place.We had a variety of sharing plates to start off with (fried mushroom, tempura prawns, sesame eggplant) which were very tasty, except the eggplant which was bizarrely tasteless.The mains were sashimi and sushi which were incredible ... the quality of the fish was superb - silky and bursting with flavour.The service was outstanding, best we've had in Zurich.
