"Christian visitors to Holy Island for the day (30.08.23), I was with my sister and her three young girls, whom I was visiting in Newcastle. It was the most beautiful day and we thought we would have a quick bite before driving back, enjoying the view, and we found an empty table so thought this a likely possibility. I waited at least 5 minutes for someone to speak to me, despite there being three people behind the bar. From memory one of them was young and on her phone. No one addressed me. I then politely asked the older woman (who seemed like the manager, and who ended up walking past me) for a menu. She rudely and haughtily told me that unless we had booked we could not be served, including drinks (you 'd think pubs would want as much money as possible; this woman acted as though she couldn 't care less about travellers). Was any outside table marked 'reserved '? No (see photos). I felt really unwelcome. And I see other reviews have mentioned the same behaviour. This woman needs some serious customer service training...! So we went across the road to the Crown and Anchor who, though they had run out of mains (I think because of bookings) couldn 't have been nicer and more hospitable. They bent over backwards for us. They provided the girls with nuggets and chips, and we had a lovely time in the beer garden. The locals both inside and out were very welcoming and chatty. It is less smart than the Manor but I would take a great atmosphere over a gentrified interior, any day. In short, the Manor 's treatment of us marred what had otherwise been a special day. Shame on them."

As for the food and drinks, our dinner and breakfast were both delicious, and the pink gin was a standout favorite. Overall, we give the rooms a rating of 5!

The staff were excellent! The room was OK (2) but the bed was VERY squeeky. The boiler had broken down, so there was no hot water. We lived!! Rooms: 4 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Quiet

Still serving food when everyone else on the island seemed to have given up for the afternoon. Great vegan food, a really rich tomato and pepper soup with gluten free bread and a properly done vegan burger. Much better than the allegedly identical burger from a pub a couple of miles away on the mainland. Would recommend. Service: 5 Location: 5

I recently visited Manor House for the second time since 2019, and it was just as wonderful as I remembered. Ashley and Richard were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home. The charm of Holy Island combined with the experience at Manor House is an absolute must-visit in your lifetime. Overall, I would rate the rooms, service, and location all as 5 out of 5!

As for the room, it was comfortable and located at the back of the hotel, which we appreciated because it was one of the dog-friendly options that we knew about when booking. The hotel is in a great central location, making it easy to explore Lindisfarne. When it comes to food and drinks, everything was excellent. There was a wonderful selection for both breakfast and dinner, all of high quality. Overall, a great experience! Voir le carte

From the moment we walked in frozen, we were greeted with a warm friendly welcome from the bar lady kayleigh. She was very engaging with us. Quickly got us our drinks and asked us if we'd like any food prior to the kitchen closing for the evening. She even gave us a a4 information/history sheet on the history of the building and family that used to reside there. Excellent staff member! It's a lovely building, and inside is warm inviting and tastefully done. Comfy sofas to lounge on and rest with your drink. In the corner is an aray of games etc to help pass the night away of which we took advantage of, apparently I've been playing domino's wrong my entire life who'd of known We ended up just...

Lindisfarne is an extraordinary place, and staying at the Manor House Hotel is a fantastic choice to experience it. My dog and I stayed at the hotel for one night, and we had an amazing time. Not all rooms are dog friendly, so it's worth booking early to make sure you can get one if you have a dog. We crossed the causeway to find the island packed with day trippers but the hotel helped us find parking in their car park, and as the tide came in, the island suddenly became empty, and the atmosphere totally changed to one of serenity and peace. We had an incredibly warm welcome at the hotel (all the staff were lovely during our entire visit, and were really helpful beforehand when ringing them...

"This place is simply too expensive for what is delivered. There’s nothing wrong with the food per se, but the prices are astronomical. We ate the leek tart, as a starter and it was £12. It was fine, but didn’t deliver the impact we were expecting for the price. It wasn’t made fresh, and the side salad was dripping in bog standard vinaigrette. Not inedible, but nothing special. I had the salt and chilli squid with ‘Asian slaw’. I was expecting flavours of coriander, lemongrass, lime, mint; all what I would consider pan-Asian flavours. When the dish arrived I could see straight away it was not to be! Instead of what I’ve described there was a fairly ordinary looking salad, swimming in a pool of (what tasted like) supermarket hoi-sin sauce. Really too much and overly sweet. The squid itself was well cooked but a very sparse portion for £16. Other dishes included lobster, at almost £60 (market price apparently) which was competent but came with bought in chips. No flavour to chips, they were semi-stale. We had higher hopes, I’m afraid. The service and atmosphere were perfectly fine, no issues there. Staff were efficient and friendly. I’m afraid for us, holidaymakers willing to spend money, this restaurant doesn’t represent good value. I enjoy eating out, but I hate feeling ripped off…and I’m sorry to say, that’s how dining at ‘The Potted Lobster’ felt. Save yourself the bother and go to the local butcher/pie shop a few doors down. They were doing a roaring trade and I can see why!"
