"Machiavelli is the fourth restaurant to occupy a beautiful space at the edge of the Grünewald on Clayalle in Berlin since the original owners retired about 10 years ago. Somehow no one was able to capture the charm of the traditional German space which had been there for decades. Machiavelli seems to have come close. They are not there yet, but they are trying hard We were there recently for Sunday Brunch . Costing a very reasonable €15.00 per person, it is a good buy. The food is modern Italian with eggs, meats fruit and beautiful salads. Drinks are extra. We sampled most of the dishes and found them tasty and well presented. A good recommendation, especially in warm weather, where a beautiful terrace opens to the forest. Another visit at dinner was less exciting. The menu is standard "German Italian" fare. Not bad, but no great either. And prices are at the upper level of neighborhood Italian restaurants. Since the setting is wonderful, paying a bit more might be worth it. But one can get much better food at several near by places for the same or less money. Service by the Italian owners is friendly and caring and the room is very attractive. Worth a visit, but not a culinary high point."
