"So sad. I had high expectations having read the reviews but it was one of the worst Indian's I've ever eaten in my life. I'll keep this brief. Food turned up lukewarm, not terrible as I'm happy to pop in the microwave. The mint sauce was a disgusting luminous green, tasted of the smell of cif lemon household cleaner. I've never in nearly 50 years had a mint sauce this artificially coloured, it was luminous bright green. The onion bahjis just tasted of salt no natural flavour or sweetness from onions. There was no fresh herbs, flavours felt like they came from all the same base sauce and not a good one. Naan was wet and flavourless. After trying I threw it all in the bin. Please tell me there's a better indian nearby as this is not what i'm used to."

"Just wanted to say what a lovely meal we had at The Greyhound Belper on Saturday! Our starters were delicious and perfectly sized. The mains were just as lovely. The thing that impressed me most was the child 's fish and chips that I ordered for my 1 year old (she eats loads! . It was a proper meal just smaller. No fobbing us off with processed rubbish just cos kids don 't appreciate good food it was proper home cooked chips and battered fish with juicy peas. Decent price and sized kids meal! The beer was also good. The dessert was a proper homemade cheesecake. Overall massively impressed!"

"We booked a table for 4 people (at 1pm) for Thursday 29th December. I have to admit, apart from the fish on the plates, (chips weren’t good) it must have been our worst experience at The Thorn Tree. I don’t know if you have a new owner/manager or staff but none of the “happy staff” that we have been used to we’re working yesterday. There was one young man that from what we could see, was only just managing to cope. He was literally running the bar/orders/seeting and serving single handed. This guy was doing great, to say that he had no help on the outside of the kitchen. The chips were certainly the worst we have ever been served. Lots of tiny pointed chips and quite a few chips were green fleshed. We would usually have stayed for desserts but the whole restaurant was “uncomfortably cold”. We understand that heating and energy prices have increased dramatically but myself and many others, are not prepared to pay good money, to sit and eat/drink in an uncomfortably cold restaurant. I would have certainly left this review on TripAdvisor but I have been told in the past “our TripAdvisor account has been compromised by a former employee”. So I’m not sure that there is much point, apart from sharing my opinions with others. In the past, I have always recommended and highly rated The Thorn Tree but no more"

"I had a wonderful meal here with my family, which included a total of nine people, along with a small child. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived until the end of our meal. The food was served quickly, piping hot, and all at once. The portions were generous and satisfying. We also enjoyed a beautifully presented dessert that was a good size. My partner had the squash pudding, which came with plenty of crispy toppings—definitely not a tiny portion! Overall, it was excellent value for money. I was genuinely impressed and will definitely return."

"WOW WOW WOW!!!! What an amazing place, such a hidden gem in the lovely town of Swanwick! The Pantry is really quirky and has such a homely feel with a lovely welcoming family who own the place. I attended one of the new bistro evenings the pantry have started to hold on Thursday evenings. From what I gather they offer different themed evenings such as Italian and Steak etc. I have been to the last steak night and all I can say is YUM and a big congrats to the chef! There are not many places where the chef actually comes out of the kitchen to ask everyone on a personal basis if they are enjoying their meal. With little candles on the tables its a perfect place to have an evening with your partner! Dont hesitate to get booked in...mind you, you could be waiting a while as they are fully booked until Feb that's how popular this evening night is! I have also been for the afternoon tea here so if you cant get in for the bistro and you want to go over the xmas break as a treat the afternoon teas are just as good. Claire and her family will make anyone feel at home and ensure everyone has a thoroughly good time! xx"
