"We really were only looking for a place to have a rest and a glass or two of wine, and this appeared to be a good spot. It's located within 15 yards of the entrance to the Abbey and across the street for the Tourist Visitors Bureau (which, as an aside, has some of the best prices on locally produced wine). The benefit to the proximity to the Tourism Office was that free WiFi was available. So while we enjoyed our first glass of wine, we were able to catch up briefly on messages, etc. BUT --- the real surprise came in the food. We had not intended to eat, but then changed our minds --- and the food was quite good. My wife had a salad chock full of vegetables and meats, and I had one of the best quiches I've had in quite some time. Crustless on the sides --- it was flavorful, we'll balanced with ingredients, and perfectly done. It’s a simple place for sure, but certainly exceed our expectations in terms of food, price and location."

Came here for a late break and lunch. W had Croque Monsieur, Carbonara and the mixed meat plate. Service was good, prices likewise and the setting quaint.

It seemed to us to be on the Rue Gabriel Jeanton rather than the Place de l'Abbaye. Very welcoming cafe with pleasant seating area onto the street. Very reasonable prices and good food. We were warned as we ordered that there would be a little wait. It was 25 mins which did not seem bad.

We had low expectations - a tourist place in a tourist town right next to the biggest tourist attraction. But it was fine. On a cold wet day we ate lunch inside, where it's pretty cramped. But the quiches were freshly made and good, the service was quick and personable, and the prices refreshingly normal for a town where prices can be alamingly high.

Tucked in the shadow of the beautiful church of St. Philibert in Tournus, this little cafe served me up the most delicious little casserole of escargots imaginable. I am determined to try to re-create this dish with its snails, sliced potatoes, and its sauce of parsley--but I'll have to do this while still in France, unless someone can tell me where to get good snails for cooking in Oklahoma! The mustard salad dressing was also to die for. After this perfect lunch I was ready to tackle the study of the church and its architecture.

The restaurant over the road something Marion were very unpleasant and so we crossed the road to this place. Good value food that the we all loved the boys (teenagers) had the lasagne we had the quiche Lorraine both great dishes for a quick lunch. Pleasant French jazz/swing music in the background. We are indoors and it was comfortable and a lot cooler than outside. Toilet is worth a visit just to see it's grotto effect it was clean tidy with soap and a dyson hand drier only cold water though. Pudding was Magnums for the boys, apple tart for me and cheese for my wife. Only complaint is that the cheese would have been better if there had been a selection rather than just a portion of sheep's...

"we have eaten here 2 or 3 times before and had a perfectly ok meal, so maybe it's a bit unfair to write our last visit. but I just write how we found it. it was a very warm evening and we had for. the terrace on the back of the hôtel at the rande of a small square booked. I ate from the 25€ menu and my wife from one at 33€. we ordered a bottle of red wine a relatiw local mercury 1er cru les croichots. Unfortunately, the glasses used here are quite klemperische dinge with a rolled edge that do not really allow them to fully appreciate the content, but it was a good enough bottle. the starter of my wife was 6 chicks in garlic, served in single small “egg cup”. she found her more on garlic and something oily. I was in a flaw pastry with a green salat chaource. the salad dress was pretty sharp. it was quite normal vinaiigrette (vin aigre means sour wine, finally) but would have done with the addition of a small honey to cut the hard easily; it would have gone far better with the cheese package. we then had waited to see the city youth on the square and hear some bad music. the waiter worked in a furious tempo, but again and again he just disappeared into the kitchen for some time, probably waiting for the next dishes to appear in the pass. the terrace has seating for 24, but there were only about 17 people eating so it wasn't exactly full. our main thing appeared. my wife had ordered truite de la petite mondayne with buttery and cuddly, and my head was charolaise steak in a weeping and soot sauce. the trout is bred in the cold waters of the river valouson in the jura, and my wife said she was absolutely perfectly cooked. but she thought the buerre noisette had a slightly greasy taste from some reason, and it didn't have the brown color that you would expect. my steak turned out to be very chewing, and although I got a steak knife, it was extremely difficult to cut. I had to put the first bit back on the plate, as I could not bite through them, and although I had managed to cut a few pieces and eat them, it became more and more difficult. I might have given it back, but it fell with one of the waiting times in the kitchen and when he finally reappeared, I went away from the idea of the steak. I ate the little grooming and cut the sauce with a little broth. it is possible that if I had eaten à la carte, the meat cut might have been better, but I am not sure if I would like to find out now. a three curs 25€ menu is not exactly cheap anyway. the menu of my wife included cheese, but mine didn't. When the waiter cleared the teller, I said I would wait for dessert until my wife was ready for her. what we had not expected was another 20 minutes or more to have to wait for a small plate of three cheese and salad leaf. When it finally arrived, we were 3 hours at the table. we told him we would miss desserts and bring us the supplement. it hadn't arrived when we had eaten the cheese between us, so my wife went in. another (Dutch) diner had just hit her with the same complaining about the speed of the service. there was no one except the waiter who was extremely apologetic and was charged only for two 25€ menus, not exactly any great reduction of truth in the face of an indefinable steak and no dessert. our evening was not helped by the fact that it is in the summer eve, in the evening when free music is heard on the streets in whole france. what we had not far from us, two young were a saxophonist and a drummer. we have a lot of taste in the music and certainly enjoy jazz, but two hours of playing from someone without recognizable melodie accompanied by heavy hand drum simply not lifting our ghosts. the people kept stealing, but whether it was in appreciation or because they were glad that he was ready for a moment I don't know. okay, nothing to do with la paix, and I don't blame them for it. it would have been nice to hear some decent music in the long gaps between each cursor. we had useful meals here before, and my wife who loves fish would return alone for the fresh water trout. not if the kitchen can not put her act together, and I will be interested to see other feedback."
