"This review is based on our stay at Appartement Klapotetz, which is part of the restaurant, I tried to make a review of the actual apartments, but Tripadvisor prevented this for some bizarre reason. We stayed in Klapotetz during our skiing holiday in Bad Gastein in February 2020, on arrival I really admired the building that is built in a traditional Austrian style. We were greeted by our hosts who brought us to our room and gave us a short show. The room was excellent, probably the largest we had on a ski holiday, the bed was gigantic and the room benefited from panoramic views of the mountains and Bad Gastein. The kitchen was well equipped, there were 2 hobs, a microwave, coffee maker, kettle, all the cutlery we needed, and our host Hannes even provided us with a grill/oven that he had in the storage room, so that we had morning toast and properly cooked meals at the evenings. The location is convenient as it is at the foot of the slopes directly over a parking lot (I would not say it is ski in/ski out, but it is as close as you to the slopes in Bad Gastein and the short walk through the parking was no problem. During our stay, our main focus was skiing, which was good, but I personally prefer the pistes in France, we visited the local spa (Felsentherme) every evening, I highly recommend visiting the spa after a day of skiing, the treatments that are included at fixed times during the day left my skin feeling amazing, especially the salt infusion. The hotel offers a discount card called Gastein Card, which will give you many discounts throughout the Gastein area including rock thermals, I would recommend getting the weekly pass for €100 as this has worked out the best value for our stay. We could not have asked for better hosts during our stay, both were really helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them, the accommodation was perfect, it was clean, comfortable and spacious. If you are planning a visit to Bad Gastein in winter for skiing or in summer for the selection of other activities, then I recommend a stay in Klapotetz."

The cooking here is to an extremely high standard with excellent service. The dining area is charming and just off is a kitchen bar very popular locally.

This restaurant was bad! Our children's pagetti had badly shaped cheese flakes on it, both of our adult salads had long black hair on them plus the salads were swimming in dressing. Can't even say that the service was welcoming. Wouldn't recommend anyone.

There were four of us and we sat at a large table with two other pairs in a very cozy room. It was very busy that you need to book in advance. Enjoyed a delicious Wiener Schnitzel in this delightful traditional restaurant. My partner had the wild boar ragout which was excellent. A small mix up in the dessert but it was the most fortunate mix-up that could happen as we were presented with the perfect pancakes with ice cream, whipped cream and flaked almonds in chocolate sauce. The staff were fantastic and really friendly. Will definitely recommend and try to come back again.

The herbs that will be cut for your order grow in the front garden on the outside patio where you can train spot whilst awaiting your meal. Good meaty Styrian specialities such as wild boar for 14.50 euros. Not so keen on the meat and potatoes staple Austrian diet myself so had the 'shrimps ' (actually king prawns) in tomato chilli butter with toasted bread for 6.50, followed by the Mediterranean fish goulash with veg and salt potatoes for 14.50 big chunks of different fish in a sauce that combined deliciously. Thiis was my first visit and I will certainly return on my next trip to Bad Gastein.
