"We found this restaurant while wandering around the old area of Tropea. It was a little hidden away. The menu looked good, so we returned after deciding against trying one of the places on the main tourist area (which were more highly rated). There is indoor and outdoor seating. Some of our party had the spaghetti with clams and mussels, another the seafood linguine and another had the mixed seafood. We also ordered a plate of grilled squid to share and the house white wine. The waiter brought out a plate of small bruschetta with fresh, ripe tomatoes tossed in olive oil and oregano. This was an unexpected and lovely touch. It was tasty. One of our party said the spaghetti was not of the best quality as some had stuck together, but I thought it was very good. The clams and mussels were cooked well and the sauce was delicious, also creamy without any butter or cream. The mixed seafood was also delicious and beautifully cooked. One member of our group was facing the kitchen and could see the great care the staff took with the presentation of our meals. The squid was also well received by everyone. The wine was unimpressive on its own, but worked very well with the food and didn't overwhelm the flavours of our meals. The waiter was lovely and service was unobtrusive. If/when we come back to Tropea, we will come back to La Perla Nera. Thank you again."

This place is just off the main drag near the square and hence a bit cheaper. Delicious fritta mistura and good cheap local wine 8 Euros a litre.

the dishes are very good and the portions are large enough to get rich and the prices are appropriate. the service is very nice. you sit in a walled courtyard.

The insalata marina is the best! Authentic seafood taste, served cold (seviche), seasoning on point, olive oil and garlic. Possibly the best lunch/starter you can imagine.

i went for dinner and the atmosphere wasn't righy,the owner an old lady keep yelling at the waiters and staring at the people, i felt so uncomfortable and observed, never again

fish dishes quite good: antipasto advice the black pearl and ravioli of cernia with clams. very fast service. helpful staff and very kind, only flaw during service do not always wear masks.

The food was great, but our waitress told us to “Learn Italian, you’re in Italy.” Thanks for the judgement! This little thing called COVID has kept us from our tutor (and Italians! for a few months.

Had dinner here in late August 2022. Our Tour Guide recommended to us. We were not disappointed. I had a great Aprerol Spritz and crabmeat raviolis in a light tomato sauce. My husband had seafood pasta, and fried seafood. All of the dishes were delightful, flavorful, and just delicious. We sat outside and enjoyed the evening. Highly worth a visit.

Nejlepší rodinná restaurace ve městě, klidné místo v boční uličce nedaleko centra, romantické zákoutí. Vlídná inteligentní vtipná obsluha, super chutná kuchyně s úžasným výběrem jídel od pizzy přes těstoviny až po senzační rybí speciality vše prvotřídní. Díky bohu, že jsme ji objevili hned začátkem pobytu, doporučujeme všem! The best family restaurant in Tropea, a quiet romantic place in side small street not far from the centre. The stuff is really kind, intelligent and funny, all dishes are excellent, it´s not important if you prefer pizza, pasta, meat or very delicious fish menu, everything was really great! Sick of the crowded streets and average food we wandered around the narrow streets of Tropea and found La Perla Nero. Family owned for 3 generations. Staff understood our English which is not that common in Tropea and we really wanted Bruschetta with tomato and the famous Tropea red onions which was not on the menu but they made it for us anyway and it was delicious. We were not that hungry so ordered the Spaghetti ala Bolognaise which was the best we have had in Italy. This is our 9 th trip to Italy but first time to Calabria. If you want fine dining this is not it but great food and value for money. Our 2 course meal and a nice bottle of local rose cost 48 Euro. For 2 people. You can’t bea...
