"I have dined at the King's Head for over 40 years on many special occasions. And oftentimes, just because I want to enjoy a decent meal out in a restaurant that delivers exceptional food so hard to find outside London. The Aylesbury Duck for two...is a must but should be requested when booking to avoid disappointment. Georges de Maison and his team do an outstanding job and have adapted the restaurant and menu to accommodate changing times and tastes. The King's Head is about quintessential fine dining, and my only surprise is that not all guests dress for the occasion these days. This is a pity as turning up in jeans and a t-shirt at such a wonderful venue would only make one feel out of place! If you have not visited, I would recommend the King's Head restaurant most highly."

Celebrated my 50th at The King’S Arms in 2012 and returned for my 60th in Feb ‘22. It did not disappoint. I chose the duck as usual) and it was perfect not to be beaten by anywhere else. My 15 guests all had...an amazing time and all were buzzing about the great food and service. Still a real winner thank you for making my birthday so memorable xx

went to lunch with my mother. it was definitiw not disappointed. I've been one of them, and I've got to say it's so nice to go in a facility that's for them. they are asked what they want., their table is laid for them and the service is impeccable. bathroom are wonderful! eating was excellent and specially cooked for them. so pampering and delicious!

Went to restaurant with friends and we’re not disappointed. The maitre de made us so welcome and explained the menu. Two of us had the smoked salmon and the other two had the hokey switch were absolutely delicious. We all had the Aylesbury duck which...was exquisite with lovely vegetables and beautiful stuffing. Finished off with the best tarte tatin. Would highly recommend

We have visited this restaurant for many years, but six of us went recently for a family birthday. It’s rare that you can go anywhere that six people after the meal all had absolutely nothing that could have been improved upon. From start to finish...it was superb, with Georges still carving the beautiful Aylesbury ducks and flambéing the sweet course. He should be so proud that this format has worked through the generations. Will be back soon.

I wanted a very good friend pampering his wife for the look at my beloved dog while on vacation. the kings head was my favorite restaurant for decadence. we decided to have a Sunday dinner, we were greeted by georges. in the pre lunch bar where we enjoyed drinks nibbles. I had ordered an aylesbury duck for the gents who had the damen beef. after her signature desert tarte tatin. eating was exquisite, the service first class of the ambiance was incredible.

This was a first visit for two of us. We were very impressed. The atmosphere in the lounge (where we had pre-dinner drinks) and the restaurant was comfortable and relaxed. We had pre-ordered the duck which was outstanding, with moist flesh and deliciously crispy skin....Service was pleasant. Had we known how large the portions were, of starters and the main course, we should never have accepted the offer of house bread. And the tarte tatin dessert was also far from under-sized but was perhaps a little too rich? Overall, clearly Excellent

I have been eating in this great old fashion restaurant for about fifty years. recently I was there twice for lunch, it is without doubt as good as before all the years. it is a beautiful old building in a wonderful location opposite. the village green. georges de maison, the owner still carries it even though he was the eighties. the speciality is her roast, which is simply the best I have ever tried. if they like traditional old restaurants that I do, this is one of the most beautiful in the country. give themselves a tasty bite and book a table before the order of the duck, yo will not regret it!

there is something very cozy and welcoming over the head of the kings. promoted by the roaring fires and antique furniture. we have been eating in the kings head for several years and now take the children. eating is fantastic, cooked and seasoned to perfection. and in generous portions, so they go hungry there! service is professional, but not overlaid. to achieve a difficult balance. personal favorites are their dover soles, turbot and steak au poirvre, which they are at the table flambé. these are not currently on the menu so we had their famous aylesbury duck, who never disappointed. george operates a fantastic traditional facility that has always been excellent for decades!

Wow, what a find. It’s a 1970s throw back. The kinda place the in crowd would have gone for a lot of wine, duck a la orange and a crepe Suzette. The food has moved on..a bit, although duck was on the menu as was...crepe Suzette…all to be flambé at your table. Oh and the red wine was served from a lovely wicker wine carrier. We only had a main course for the set lunch menu, although I now wished we’d gone a full 3 courses they were serving a tarte tatin for pud! Before the food arrived we were served lovely homemade bread and even a small jug of yummy soup. The main event was perfectly cooked, seasoned and very, very tasty. They even gave us complimentary chocolates on the house too. So big t...
