very beautiful alround experience staff were excellent they were my girlfriend made i mollie the dog very welcome fyi the sticky toffee pudding is to die for!

a very warm and welcoming greeting from the staff of the bar, fast and efficient service and went out of the way to make us welcome. the food was served quickly and was nice. all our needs have been met. will soon be visited again.

for ten years has not been back to the wantage, so it was not safe to go to lunch. I saw that the alfreds were eating now, so we thought we would let it go. great choice. eat all very well and a good choice of beer. especially enjoyed the whitebait. that we have shared as a starter.

If i could leave a 0 i would the staff are so rude and the food was terribly undercooked with the salad being unwashed a clearly out of date telling by the slime that came with my rocket. Staff didn't seem to be bothered and...with them more interested in their mobile telephones avoid at all costs

We have recently moved to the area we are trying out all the pubs and restaurants. King Alfreds Head has a beautiful outside seating area and welcoming interior when the weather is bad. This has now become our favourite pub. The staff are very friendly...helpful and professional. The food although it’s a limited menu the food is really tasty. We can highly recommend the fish finger sandwich and the onion bhaji burger. THANKYOU to the staff for making us feel so welcome…… we absolutely love coming here and cannot wait to show it to all our friends and family. Voir le carte

So pleased that The Bear was unable to accommodate me for Sunday lunch! If they had, I wouldn't have encountered the enjoyable experience at this pub/restaurant. From the moment I walked in staff were welcoming and helpful. A menu was immediately available it wasn't...at The Bear- and I was able to book a table at my preferred time. The food was well cooked and flavoursome, with a good range of vegetables to accompany the roast. The service provided by waitresses and bar staff was exemplary; charming and attentive, without being over-solicitous. Will definitely return.

Having taken my 15 month dog (Skye) for a walk along the stream, it was time for some serious pub training most essential in a dog’s training program. I tied her lead round the table leg and waited to be served. Along came Caz...with a warm and friendly smile, she took my order for a lager shandy. I just had my first refreshing sip when something startled Skye. She pulled on the lead and my shandy went flying. Instantly, Cyrus arrived out of nowhere and offered me a free shandy. He was so sweet and understanding and told me not to worry. It was a pleasure to experience such good service. It’s clear Skye needs much kore intensive pub training , so I will be returning again and again. Big than...

We regularly visit The King Alfreds Head because it is a really lovely friendly pub and the food is great. I especially loved the fish finger sandwich. Not this time what’s happened to it ? The fish fingers were very cheap probably catering packs of...fish fingers the fish was grey and didn’t taste very nice has the chef changed maybe the sandwich had lettuce in, which made the sandwich soggy and the tartare sauce was spread IN the sandwich, not on the side like it should be. Basically it was horrible not up to their normal standard. I was very disappointed I have recommended this pub to friends and family and the food has definitely let it down this time.
