DO NOT be tempted to go for the "alt jena" restaurant a few doors down, as their service is nonexistant and guests are treated as a burden rather than as their livelihood! instead go to the kartoffelhaus, which is better food, better prices, and has good service, and is also on the market square. good place for people watching, and eating... has lots of people eating there that are "in the know", and have been disappointed by other places next door that are no good ("alt jena"). i will be glad to stop at kartoffelhaus again, and bring my tours there. it is probably your best bet on the market square. thank you kartoffelhaus for offsetting the negative expereince at the alt jena joke of a gasthaus."

friendly enough, but quite boring. limited, rather tasteless eating. typical German meat in potatoes without seasoning. nlice ice cream.

Haben da zu Abend gegessen. Sehr lecker und die Kartoffelpfanne mit Spiegelei war absolut preiswert. Bedienung war sehr hilfsbereit und nett. Kann ich nur empfehlen.

we really enjoy kartoffel house. great eating at a great price. they even have an unexpectedly good steak! I always get the grilled mais on the cob. the restaurant itself is really interesting. a small jewel in jena.

Well it does not even deserve a star!! We have just left the place (5/10/22 @18.50) because the waitress behaved horribly and explicitly said that he is already busy with serving customers inside so he cannot come out and serve outside... unrespectful...horrible ...

8 years ago, but came back because of the good memories. eating is good, great variations of the dishes, basic ingredient is obviously kartoffel, but combined in a set of different possibilities. fair prices, cozy place and friendly staff. also very well located...in the main square of jena Voir le carte

Bei der Kartoffel kann man wenig falsch machen. Insbesondere die thüringischen Gerichte sind grundsolide und traditionell gemacht. Die Preise sind angemessen, das Personal neigt ab und zu den Überblick zu verlieren. Drinnen sitzt man gemütlich, draußen mit sonnigem Überblick über den Markt.

Locale veramente carino, in pieno centro, con un servizio ottimale... Ma le aspettative che mi ero creata, purtroppo non sono state rispettate!!Abbiamo ordinato dei piatti unici di carne e come contorno c'erano le patate al forno ma purtroppo non erano buonissime, sembravano riscaldate. Peccato!!! Ottima la birra!!
