"There are not enough superlatives in English to describe how wonderful the food is here. For me the best Italian food outside Italy! Domenico is one of the most creative chefs I've ever met. Its use of a variety of herbs makes its dishes exceptional. There is always a generous and delicious Amuse Bouche, offered with wonderful crispy bread at the beginning. Soups and salads are a work of art and show his true art and taste as if he just picked the vegetables from the garden. During my visits I had several pasta dishes that bleed my mind!; an Aglio, Olio and Peperoncino, and recently, something similar to a Putanesca, with my personal choice, angel hair pasta and black olives. Sublime! My friend had the ravioli she loved. I also went one night over the summer, and he prepared a 6-course vegan meal for me on site! Genius! The open red wine I had was both Primitiva and Merlot without errors. I honestly don't know how he does it! He's the only one in the kitchen and the place is always full! Service is perfect. I cannot recommend this place enough!"

a very good reception and a simple but quality cuisine!the menu is essentially made of pasta and salads ( huge!). all products are fresh and of very good quality. It's simple: we ate almost every day, either at noon or at night!

This little restaurant is a must in the area: where shall we start from? It's a nobrainer for international educated clients. Cosy, quaint, laid back atmosphere, easy to spot right across the street from Ermitage, no more than 2 km away from Golf club and...More Voir le carte

A very nice surprise coming to this restaurant (thanks to Tripadvisor by the way.) No menus or list of dishes at the entrance or on the web, so we took the risk of a discovery. And we were delighted. Small restaurant and carte (which is good omen) but very good fresh food cooked with love and maestria as well as dressed as pieces of art. Accompagnied by a joyfull italian wine. Small familiy italian restaurant with eartwarming welcome and cooking. Price in average and even more than correct compared to exaggerated prices charged by some other establishments in the region. Worth the trip, even from Gstaad and further. Voir le carte

This little restaurant is a must in the area: where shall we start from? It's a nobrainer for international educated clients. Cosy, quaint, laid back atmosphere, easy to spot right across the street from Ermitage, no more than 2 km away from Golf club and with its own dedicated parking facility. Food is really great. Everything is fresh, top quality and straight from original region. Selection is gofted. Mediterranean inspiration with several blinks to ethnic and local traditional cuisine. Feels good to see the care and passion young chef Domenico puts in each and every dish. Mariella is a flawless landlady and completes the picture with a smile and all the Italian warmth you may expect in y...

Revisited this jewel of a restaurant back in November, just before it closed for the holiday. Wouldn't have enjoyed the meal anymore! Exquisites food in every way! As a vegan, they bend backwards to pick me up. The boss is a magician who really should have some Michelin stars. I had no better Italian food everywhere. You always have a beautiful amuse boulevard on arrival, and these incredibly crispy cries like bread that do not stop eating! On this occasion I had a beautiful vegan vegetable soup, delicious as always, and not your average vegetable soup. Something to really rave. The salad was huge and a work of art, again decorated with fresh herbs. Piece de Resistances was the eggplants fil...

"I was about to put a review about how rude were both the owner and his partner that I bumped into the review of another customer that I will copy below. It fully expresses my feelings. The only difference with it is that we went for lunch and they went for dinner. The arrogance of the owners was incredible: As usual, our family decided to have dinner at the Sonnenhof in August. We booked our table a few days in advance and arrived promptly at 7:30pm. To our great surprise, the restaurant terrace was packed full with many extra tables improvised left and right. It took the waitress 20 minutes to come to our table. While the first course arrived within 40 minutes, the main course was taking forever. When we eventually complained at 9:30pm, the spouse of the owner gave us an arrogant answer that they were full and had over 100 servings etc. We were somewhat surprised by the tone, when a simple short apology would have been sufficient, but that was too much too ask. Later, when we paid our bill, we tried to explain again that the service was slow, we were told that “our guests accept this”. Some 30 minutes later, around 22:30, the restaurant owner called us. Hoping that finally he found some common sense, he continued his wife‘s arrogant attitude and again was not able to apologise for the quality of the service, epitomizing the arrogance of this establishment. This is the last time we will be visiting this restaurant after some 30 years. Some people wonder if the Saanenland has lost its soul, well it looks like the Sonnenhof has . Their success made them lose sight of the importance of being kind to clients. I don 't think they will change their attitude as long as their restaurant will be full. That 's a pity."
