"Our first visit today, two of us. The food and ambience was very nice but I was very disappointed that I was charged £2 for a glass of soda water from the pump. I fully appreciate that it won’t be free but £2 is outrageous. Up until the bill I was mentally making a note to go again with my stream of summer visitors. But having spent £50.10 in lunch I came away felling a bit ripped off. No return visit from me or my family. The £2 won’t have done the landlord much good. Loads of pubs don’t charge at all for soda water. Landlords are always whinging about how tough it is but really this is not a good marketing move."

"we came to a friend recommended, 3 curs Sunday lunch for £13! eating is amazing and a good part too. was a few Sundays and this led to us coming to us on the Tuesday for curry night, which was again a head at £6 was banging 'ansome! steak night is also a must, boiled to perfection. the staff are beautiful, so friendly and friendly and keep their eyes peeled for maddison the rottweiler, she is a great softy, but hide all the tennis balls they have as she will sniff them up! haha excellent pub, excellent eating xxx"

"My other half and I visited the golden lion inn for breakfast this morning, it was absolutely beautiful. We went along with out dog, who got a treat and a bowl of water. "This time I only popped in for a drink after work. However, a couple of weeks before we popped in for dinner. Although the beers are good I am afraid the very young staff were doing their jobs and no more. The family next to us had food missing were not happy. Having been here previously always had fantastic food this visit was really disappointing. The place was closed by 9!!! Would appear the change of hands has not been a good thing for the food here."

"Service was exceptional, not over done but polite and timely. Good Covid precautions which actually improves the experience. You're called up the carvery (which I had! table by table which means no queue. Food was excellent, great selection of veg, all hand prepared, awesome cauliflower cheese, perfect roasties. Meat was insanely good. Three choices and all succulent. Pork was perfect, turkey was moist, beef medium. I've only written so much as I'm so impressed. It was worth the money and there were choices for all appetites. A table of ladies had dessert. They were huge!! The table fell quite as they mined thier way through thier choices. Table opposite ordered from the main menu and although I wasn't aware of thier selection, the couple were more than happy it seemed. I'd go there again for sure. Hope that helps."
