"I only popped in to get a quick take away of something today, and spotted my favourite : Black Forest Gateau....oh my ! It was very tasty ! Great friendly service, too. And no Mark, I didn 't let my fish chip scoffing hubster daughter try any, despite their exclamations of ooh, that looks nice, I need something sweet after this !!! A big bonus that I could bring my dog in, too. I will definitely be back next time I 'm in Dawlish !"

"During our stay at a holiday park in Dawlish, we decided to dine out for a meal after a long day. We arrived at The Ship at 6:30 pm and were lucky to snag one of the few remaining tables in the bustling pub, which was fully booked. Despite the busy atmosphere, we were warmly welcomed by the staff. While waiting for our food, we enjoyed some drinks. The special of the day was a delicious oxtail stew with vegetables and mashed potatoes. My daughter opted for a burger, which was not your average burger - it was loaded with cheese, bacon, gherkins, and an onion ring, served with homemade slaw. My partner had the local ham, eggs, and chips, with perfectly cooked crispy chips. We were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable bill considering the high quality of the food. I highly recommend this unassuming pub tucked away in the village - a true hidden gem with friendly and efficient staff. My advice would be to make a reservation as it was busy even on a Tuesday evening."

"Disappointing if I’m honest. We booked as a family because we really fancied some fresh seafood. When we called we specified that there were six adults, five children and a baby in a high chair. At no point during that call did anyone say that there is no children’s menu available which made for an even more expensive trip. The food was very expensive, we ended up getting the children to share three fish and chips between them and the fish inside the batter was lovely but the chips were drenched in oil. Three of us shared one of the platters and whilst it was lovely and very well presented, we all walked away hungry as there isn’t really much fish on there for you to eat. The waitress was lovely but we had to keep prompting for things we’d asked for that had been forgotten despite the restaurant being empty."
