"eleven days ago but vivid memories of excellent eating and service with friendly permission from chef, owner and friendly staff. home made soup as first cure (best suppe since a visit in frankreich, before many monden); hauptkurs special menu brought me halibut, which was tender enough to still taste the sea, with magnificent guides; and a house made classic tiramisu for dessert, for which no cake of the lobe can suffice. as my wife is eating lambs, we had a dilemma again about the wee, the facility was extremely helpful. chef even came out to chat with us, and his absolute passion for the magic of the kitchen was clear. we felt wonderfully well looked around, and the price was very valuable. many thanks to all that they give us an unforgettable meal on the last day of our short holiday."

"Went today to there Christmas launch. Ordered a brie and cranberry toastie and a cup of tea, after half an hour a senior guy came to tell me no brown bread, a series of cheifs had not got things right! Ok, I will have white.... After another 20 mins a lady very panicked came to tell me no brie!!!! I agreed to having a coronation chicken sandwich as running out of time. After flagging to the guy. Then eventually arrived over an hour later. Three pieces of chicken in the whole sandwich! Goodness, there were from what I could see 9 members of staff on duty but all chasing their tails. I have run lunch time service for 300 covers with 8 members of staff for an hour! These guys need to sort their staff and more so operations!Il I wish them good luck."

"I had an excellent experience at this restaurant, where the service, food, and atmosphere were all top-notch. I opted for the two-course menu, starting with delicious battered black pudding paired with onion chutney, followed by roast leg of lamb finished with a rich red wine jus, accompanied by new potatoes, cabbage, leeks, and carrots—all for just £17.50. My brother chose the steamed mussels in a creamy garlic sauce served with chips for £15. The portion sizes were generous, and I can't recommend this place highly enough. "We stopped at the Ship Inn for Sunday Lunch to break up a long drive home. We both ordered a Turkey Sunday Roast and we both had dessert. We hadn't been waiting long when the food arrived which was a lovely surprise. The food tasted fantastic. The veg all came in serving bowls so we could put what we each wanted on our own plates (perfect for us as occasionally we have to swap items we dont like). The gravy was so tasty it was a struggle not to get caught cleaning my plate of the remaining gravy once all the rest of the food was gone. The pudding (Sticky Toffee Chocolate fudge cake) were the perfect end to a wonderful meal. Definitely plan on visiting again if we are in the area."

"A lovely little local pub that feels like you are out in the sticks, but actually very accessible from Caerleon, Usk and the A40. Less than 10 minutes drive from Raglan Castle. Very welcoming Landlord and bar staff. I called in on the off chance for a little bit of food as I was alone on a road trip and despite being short on a member of kitchen staff, they still fitted me in for food. No exaggeration!, as a vegetarian, I struggle to find a pub or even a restaurant that actually wants to serve up good food for the veggie and only put their all in to the meat dishes however this pub food was the best food I have had! Their chips were stunning and I had the Mushroom Stroganoff (which wasn 't on the menu but I was offered that as an alternative to the beef version) and it was absolutely gorgeous, freshly home made and not reheated stodge! Huge decent serving with loads of veggies, rice and chips! All at a very, very decent price!!! I would highly recommend this surprising little gem of a place! I certainly will be back with my husband for that gorgeous food. DRINKS Again, very clean and tasty beer and ales on draught also at a very affordable price! Thanks to The Hall Inn for their great hospitality."
