"It not far from where we live in cottam and have passed it a few times and always said we should try it out. So today we did, only wish we had tried it sooner. There was a great atmosphere as we walked in and the service was even better. The whole team worked well toghter taking orders bringing drinks over and the meals etc, nothing was too much for them. We had 3 children with us and rather then having a separate children's menu, they chose off the main menu and they would get a child size portion of the meal. This meant there was far more choice for the kids then the normal nuggets, fish fingers and pizza etc. The food was really good and well presented. Certainly did not expect the level of service or quality of food from a local pub as we got. Would highly recommend a visit, we will be back soon."

beautiful pub. great food and great service. really comfortable for young children and great choice, as they can choose a small part from the main menu. in any case recommend.

Honestly the tastiest Sunday roast dinner I’ve had for a long time. Gravy was that good I asked for more!! Great food, great staff and great service all at competitive prices. Can recommend.

We use this place often, very friendly staff who do their best to accommodate the customers. Dog friendly and the food is a cut above the normal pub fare. Extensive seating area outside, good parking, what's not to like?

Lovely staff and owner, we were made to feel very welcome as a family. Very busy but still really quick service and food was delicious proper home cooked hearty meals, we cleared our plates. Will 100% return soon to try the Sunday dinner...

Just love this place. Called in yesterday after a lovely walk In Scorton. Had dog with us and not a problem. I had scampi handcooked chips etc. Scrumptious! Son's had fish (almost covered his plate) with chips and other one had steak and ale pie., plus desserts which were also amazing. 5 star! Excellent service and warm welcome as usual. Xx Voir le carte

that was my first meal in the hand and dagger in a few years and must say how delicious it was, the bark was nicely cooked and the whole sweet was my absolute favorite and it was the best yorkshire pudding that I have eaten for a long time! recommend the ingwerschwamm for the desert....devine! my friend and I enjoyed it very much. booking is a must, as it is so busy and really so! Many thanks, we will definitely come back.

on Thursday evening the local carvery was too busy to know for being silent, we were for a bigger bill for tee, but what the heck. must! pub on the road was also closed due to bad weather this morning and the first place I thought was the hand and dagger! a dark cold night. a warm welcome from the young Hannah who showed us a table, ordered drinks and quickly brought a menu and rolled the specials we chose the lancashire hot pot from the menu and a steakburger from the special table after a nice mix of broccoli and stilton suppe with buttergranat brot served the eating here is simply divine hubby enthusiastic about the cooked couple’s cooked we will return!
