"a very special and romantic place worth visiting. everything from service to eating was from highest standard. the attentive and careful staff were fab, eating was delicious and fascinating. my partner enjoyed his vegetarian options on the tasting menu. the facility was well maintained to make them feel as if they are in a rustic, dated and totally enticing heart. we had been happy that we made our reservation on the day of our visit, but I would highly recommend booking well in advance, as a pre-booked taxi service is essential to along the charming winding and narrow roads."

Had a lovely evening at Gidleigh Manor in Chagford. Great meal, the deer was delicious, a great selection of local food on the menu including many local cheeses. Service left a little to be desired for a 2 star Michelin restaurant. Food was excellent.

Gidleigh Park Hotel, Chagford, Devon, TQ13 8HH Dont rely on Sat Nav to give you the right directions to this wonderful idyllic spot thankfully we arrived in the locality with half an hour to spare! Meal was wonderful particularly the dessert of mango mousse and rice pudding ice cream.

Gidleigh Park fulfils all expectations. Everything has already been said in its praise. We went with one in a wheel chair and one on crutches: the service was amazing, highly attentive but in no way smothering. The sommelier, after he'd realised the mistake of asking my [male] partner to order I was paying was delightful as I carefully chose the cheapest white on the menu. There's class! But you don't get the assumption that the male is paying in London any more do you?

We booked lunch and arrived on a beautiful late autumn day that allowed us to take drinks and amuse bouche on the terrace while selecting our orders. Service was attentive and staff were knowledgeable when we asked about menu items and for assistance in selecting the wine. Lunch was served in one of the small dining rooms looking out across the gardens and parkland. The food was beautifully presented and perfectly balanced. Certainly some where to go for a special occasion.

A fantastic lunch experience at Gidleigh Park. As you might expect the food was faultless and the setting is truly stunning. Upon arrival we were welcomed into the lounge area, with beautiful views of Dartmoor and Gidleigh 's babbling brook. This set the scene for an afternoon of traditional, opulent fine dining. Service was a little leisurely at times, but we concluded that this was part of the 'experience ', which is best savoured in a relaxed fashion and shouldn 't be judged by city standards.

We were somewhat disappointed compared to our fantastic dinner here last year. Thankfully, the atmosphere is outstanding. The areas where you can enjoy pre-meal drinks and post-meal coffee are very pleasant. The service is also of a very high standard. However, the sommelier could use a bit of improvement in pronouncing French wine names and regions, as it was difficult to understand them. Unfortunately, the food didn't all live up to expectations. Our main dish (pollock) was much too salty, and the petit fours were also underwhelming.

We found the bar staff to be quite pretentious. When we arrived, we were seated in the lounge area but were completely ignored while other patrons were being served their food and drink orders. Eventually, we moved to the terrace and ordered drinks there. The waiter tried to push a £25 glass of white wine on us, but my partner sent it back and opted for a more reasonably priced £14 glass instead. The meal was quite expensive, totaling £125 for three courses, and my partner found his dish to be tasteless. He made sure to let the waiter know about this before we left.

"Gidleigh Park is a country house located in a wooden wally in Devon. It is quite hard to reach the place on a very narrow road, which is very beautiful, but apparently during the winter larger cars can’t even get there. Gidleigh Park houses a two-Michelin star restaurant with Michael Caines as the main chef (the restaurant was recently voted number 1 restaurant in the UK by the Harden’s Sunday Times Food List 2014). Gidleigh Park also has bedrooms (apparently all individual in style and design) and you can stay there for the night and then wonder in the gardens of the estate, which I saw some people doing when I was there. I was visiting Devon and my boyfriend chose Gidleigh Park for lunch on a Sunday and we took the long and narrow road to Gidleigh Park. The inside of the house was very old and had a lot of charm. It had eclectic art and antiques and different style rooms, the lounge had different tables, chairs and the bar was done up in a completely different style. Gidleigh Park showcased British charm and elegance. You could chose to have their signature sample menu for £140/ person, but instead we went for the much cheaper version, their lunch set menu for £44/ person for 3 courses (you could also have 4 courses for £57). Also note choosing dishes a la carte would set you back £115, so the lunch menu seems like the cheapest way how to enjoy Gidleigh Park. We did not have any wine, but apparently thy have an amazing wine cellar. The three course lunch menu included a small appetizer, a starter and a main course and you could choose from one of the 3 starters and one of the 3 main courses. Our appetizer was “goat’s cheese foam with beetroot jelly, candied walnuts and granny smith apple”, but as my boyfriend does not like goats’ cheese he had a tuna tartar as his appetizer which actually looked better than my appetizer. I was not to"
