"Positives: The outside terrace area was very pleasant, especially during the warm evening. The starters were good. The German beers. Negatives: I'm not sure if it was just us but the service wasn't great as previous reviewers experienced. The main meals we had were both awful. I never ever complain but when asked how our food was I couldn't allow myself to say okay. It was the worst burger I'd eaten in a couple of decades; full of gristle and fat and utterly tasteless. My partners beef was also cooked to the point where it was like leather. To be fair our waiter did remove my burger from the bill. There are a lot of positive reviews of this restaurant and this is the only real bad one. However, sadly this was the worst meal we ate in Stuttgart during our 6 night stay."

Authentic German gasthaus featuring Schwabian fare. Menu includes English translation for the linguistically challenged. Sauerbraten and homemade spatzle were true to form, service with a nice side salad, and paired well with local red wine (Wurttemburg Lemberger - light, but dry and pleasantly tannic).

Went here with my wife and teenage children for a taste of authentic local food, and we were very happy with the choice. Service was warm and welcoming, the decor was cozy, and the dishes were excellent. Would recommend highly if you are in this neighborhood and looking for good Schwabish food in a comfortable locale. To the cup there is the perfect combination of cozy ambience with delicious food and great service. The first visit there and we felt immediately arrived. Beautiful people... no matter whether hosts or guests. We wish the cup next door.... The sausage salad was delicious, great carving. ..On x-tra wishes also only with salad... Everything without ChiChi... We are happy to come back...

I only spent one night in Stuttgart at Le Meridien Hotel, and I wanted to go somewhere for dinner that felt 'authentic'. Zum Becher was exactly what I was looking for. The décor Is a bit dated but also very clean - most importantly, it was exactly right for the restaurant and created great ambiance. The food is traditional and the dish I ordered was outstanding. The menu is very reasonably priced. The staff was excellent. I don't speak any German, and I don't think my server spoke any English, but it wasn't a problem. Super friendly and welcoming, I felt right at home. I REALLY liked this place and would recommend it to anyone else. I'll certainly go back there the next time I am in Stuttgar...
