"I appreciate that they offer locally grown fruits and vegetables at excellent prices when in season. Their waxed apples from around the globe are still fresher compared to some supermarkets, and their herb packs are generous. However, I noticed a decline in the cheese selection about a year ago, and while the cooked meat section remains, it’s also less varied than it used to be. The fish section is noteworthy; it seems to be another business renting space at Bolam, and it has certainly improved since the previous vendors. It’s refreshing to see a new young shop assistant who is both helpful and takes pride in his work. Prices can vary, and they offer live mussels and oysters. However, during my last visit, I received a warning about 7-day old shellfish without prior notice. While it cooked well, I believe they should include such information upfront. I'm slightly concerned about hygiene, particularly in the meat section; the packaging is sometimes not sturdy enough. The cling film can be torn, exposing the meat to the risk of cross-contamination. Be sure to wash your hands and bags, as there may be blood spills. On a positive note, the products don't linger on the shelves for too long, ensuring freshness; hand sanitizer is also readily available. I haven’t heard of anyone getting sick from here, so I won’t be reducing my rating. Adjacent to the shop on the left is The Full Monty canteen, likely named after the famous movie. I've heard that many bus drivers enjoy their lunch there. The food is fairly simple but tasty and very affordable. The facility is accessible for those with disabilities, and the restrooms are located in the canteen. There's also a petrol station nearby and a large Sainsbury's for staples like milk and yogurt if you’re shopping for the week. Additionally, there's a large park down the dual carriageway."

If you're looking to buy meat in bulk, Brill Butcher's is the place to go. They offer the best cuts for a Sunday roast at great prices. The café is also quite good for a lunch stop. Voir le carte

Great value meat, excellent pies and cakes. Great selection of fresh veg and a decent fish counter. Lost a point because of the change in packaging for the sliced meat more packaging waste and less appealing.

I just visited and was disappointed to find that the place has really gone downhill. The shelves were empty, food prices have skyrocketed, and the cold meat is now sold in packets, which feels like poor value for money. They even tried to charge me £4.75 for six crusty rolls! It's such a shame because I used to enjoy going there, but I don't think I will anymore. George Bolam, what happened? It used to be a good value, but it seems like greed has taken over.

We called in for a bacon sandwich and a tea. Customer service was very poor and the lady wasn't the most pleasant at all! On paying we were given 2 paper cups plonked on the tray and then she disappeared, thankfully we then noticed the teabags were on a counter after the tills and helped ourselves, it would have been nice to informed of that, maybe she presumed every ones been before. On a positive note the bacon was cooked just right. I think management should look at having a mystery shopper call in and see what service is like! Voir le carte

Went for breakfast today and won 't be back. Cheapest ingredients possible and not much on the plate. No toast just a single slice of cheap bread smothered in marg. Slopped onto the plate with no care and the staff felt like they didn 't want to be there. Flies all over the place with no food hygiene rating anywhere that I could see. The coffee was help yourself from a tin. It looked like hot chocolate and tasted rank. Had to use a dessert spoon to put it in the cup. I wish I had seen the reviews before going and I now know why the cafe was so empty. Possibly the worst breakfast I 've ever had.

We visit this place occasionally to stock up our freezer, and up until today, we haven't had any issues. We spent £72 today, mostly on bakery items, but we ordered six lamb and mint pies and were charged for all six. However, when we got home, we found only five in the box! These pies used to be £1.29 when we first started coming here, but like everything else, the price has risen to £1.89. It's quite frustrating to be charged for something we didn't receive, especially since we're pensioners on a tight budget. So, the next time we make a trip to Bolams, we expect to get the lamb and mint pie that we were shorted!

"we wanted to have breakfast on Sunday. the tee room is pleasant, it has some seating outside. in the inner is the load that sells many beautiful baked goods jam, pickles, the type of ding. I noticed that very little had a price on it. and a woman behind us in the waits looked at something and did not buy it and said to her companion that she did not know the price. after the shop area is the tee room area. pleasant enough and seems to be recently teppich, which I found unusual for the clean floor and the transport area from the kitchen to the front shop. the table of us was stacked with empty boxes. they were very busy sending afternoon to Mother's Day. we ordered English breakfast with hash browns as optional product, a tee and a latte. there was a little waiting before our drinks came out and appreciated that they were busy, but. the table that sat after us received her drinks before us. ten minutes wait for drinks and another five before we were served with toast and jam. we got tigerbrot toast not a problem, it was delicious and it was another five to ten minutes before the other food came. two speck, sausage, bud and mushroom and two eggs all cooked nicely. we had kept our toast and our hash-brows came out a few minutes later, again very nice, but. two slices toast is a lot, hash-brows could be just one as they are big and it was a shame to leave one, it would be more beautiful on the same plate. Unfortunately, our drinks were cold in the 15-20 minutes, but were good while hot. I appreciate that this might have been super busy this day and would not have any hesitation, since in general this is a little diamant of an place I would definitely recommend, we breakfast 8/10 many thanks."
