We spent £72 today, mostly on bakery items, but we ordered six lamb and mint pies and were charged for all six. However, when we got home, we found only five in the box! These pies used to be £1.29 when we first started coming here, but like everything else, the price has risen to £1.89. It's quite frustrating to be charged for something we didn't receive, especially since we're pensioners on a tight budget. So, the next time we make a trip to Bolams, we expect to get the lamb and mint pie that we were shorted!"

If you're looking to buy meat in bulk, Brill Butcher's is the place to go. They offer the best cuts for a Sunday roast at great prices. The café is also quite good for a lunch stop.

I just visited and was disappointed to find that the place has really gone downhill. The shelves were empty, food prices have skyrocketed, and the cold meat is now sold in packets, which feels like poor value for money. They even tried to charge me £4.75 for six crusty rolls! It's such a shame because I used to enjoy going there, but I don't think I will anymore. George Bolam, what happened? It used to be a good value, but it seems like greed has taken over. Voir le carte

We called in for a bacon sandwich and a tea. Customer service was very poor and the lady wasn't the most pleasant at all! On paying we were given 2 paper cups plonked on the tray and then she disappeared, thankfully we then noticed the teabags were on a counter after the tills and helped ourselves, it would have been nice to informed of that, maybe she presumed every ones been before. On a positive note the bacon was cooked just right. I think management should look at having a mystery shopper call in and see what service is like!

Went for breakfast today and won 't be back. Cheapest ingredients possible and not much on the plate. No toast just a single slice of cheap bread smothered in marg. Slopped onto the plate with no care and the staff felt like they didn 't want to be there. Flies all over the place with no food hygiene rating anywhere that I could see. The coffee was help yourself from a tin. It looked like hot chocolate and tasted rank. Had to use a dessert spoon to put it in the cup. I wish I had seen the reviews before going and I now know why the cafe was so empty. Possibly the worst breakfast I 've ever had.
