"We live locally to this establishment, and have visited on many occasions, over the years. However, in recent months, we have noticed that the cakes are far too sweet in texture, if you ask for something to be cooked “well done”, the opposite is given to you, and the overall food selection on offer, is limited. My main complaint, isn’t regarding the standard of food, though; but the rude staff working here. On two separate occasions (the worst incident being only a few days ago), when we arrived at the cafe, we were told that only certain tables, in one section of the cafe, were available for us to sit at. The reason for this, so I have been told by the staff members, is because they don’t want to stay on after hours, to clean additional sections. I do understand this predicament, but, at the time of them saying this, they have been letting other customers sit in the areas that are supposedly ‘closed off’. Letting us sit in the ‘closed off’ sections of the cafe, wouldn’t make any difference to them, with this being the case. Although the cafe clearly states that they are open until 4pm, if you arrive any later than 3pm, you are made to feel like an inconvenience. On several different occasions, we have been told that we are allowed to stay, but must finish within a 30 minute window. It’s like you are on a timer. If you arrive after 3pm, you are only allowed to purchase cakes or drinks. This would typically be fine, but the cafe usually only has two different cakes to choose from. A few years ago, they had a much better selection of cakes on offer. In addition to the staff being offhand and rude, they will mop up the floors around you, whilst you are still eating. You feel rushed, and the experience is awkward. On a recent visit, the waitress made it plainly obvious that we had outstayed our welcome. She started clearing our table, before checking we had finished, and then proceeded to walk around the small section we were sat in, slamming down on the tables, the menu’s, for the following day (including on the table that we were still sat at). In my honest opinion, everything seems like too much trouble for the staff. If you ask for custard with your dessert, instead of cream or ice cream, you are charged an additional amount. If you ask the staff for cutlery, you are told to go and get it yourself. It seems to me, that the staff want to do as little as possible to accommodate their customers. I don’t see us returning to this cafe again! I am hugely disappointed!"

I fell in love with this lovely little cafe and garden centre when I first visited a few months ago. Food is delicious. Views so rural and charming. I've been to many garden centres around the UK but this one is one of the most charming. Voir le carte

I dont know who puts these negative reviews on here. This is the second time in a week ive been here and had a lovely meal each time, very friendly service and very good value for money, and as for the negative people, just wandering if they go back to their establishments and up their game

I ordered a jacket potato and it had that horrible 'kept warm ' or warmed up taste. The topping was ok. My husband had soup , which he liked. I also found it a bit expensive compared to our usual, similar lunches. Also, cutlery should be brought to table and not left out for all and sundry to touch.

Love love this restaurant and in particular can recommend the Tracey Toastie. Lovely venue, great airey garden room, restaurant and also a lovely area to bring your dogs without feeling on the outside. Always friendly and helpful with a great choice of breakfast, lunches and cakes. (Tracey's Toasties is still my favourite). Well worth a visit and highly recommended. Then a great place to shop in the garden centre after x Voir le carte

At time of writing this will say the breakfast here is lovely except found the tea to be a cheap brand.. Thought would visit for lunch disappointed by the very small choice available, Husband had Ham Egg and Chips Ham was called butchers choice but to me it looked nothing special at all what i would describe as cheap ham. I had a sandwich with small salad garnish which included a few crisps which were stale although might be just cheap crisps depends how many they use i suppose. Husband had coffee which when i had breakfast and had coffee was not impressed so this time had tea, Teapot filled right to the brim and just one teabag i noticed when i opened it to give it a stir. It says tea for t...

We have been going for numerous years for visit to be it the garden centre or the cafe, we were almost part of the fixtures. We had been having a run of things happening, so in view of the weather , I suggested let when we are out drop for a coffee and cake , my wife thought it was fantastic idea. So we arrived, followed the procedure, my wife read the official board. Then we joined a queue , on arrival at the desk, I said to the lady we have come for some drinks, with that she said what is your table number, now since this virus, we’ve only been twice when things are allowed. So once again it was totally vastly different. Right next to the lady was rows of empty tables, I should add I am di...

"We came as a group of 10 for my Mother in Laws 60th birthday, and I must say it was a shambles. Please let me say, that we have been many times prior to this and have had excellent food and fantastic service, so not sure what has happened. Firstly, my Father in Law had to pay a deposit for 12 of us, which was absolutely fine, however, one of those was for a baby who would not have been eating. Unfortunately the mother and baby were unable to attend due to illness, so we lost £10 of the deposit. I would like to Firstly ask, why was we charged for a baby, who was never going to be eating? Secondly, we asked for a pitcher of beer, and when this was served, we were given 3 (out of 4) of the most dirtiest glasses. The beer from previous drinkers was still in the bottom, hence the staining of brown at the bottom of the glass. This is totally unacceptable, and this could actually cause serious health issues to people drinking from them. The waitress brought the first two starters out, prawn cocktails, and dumped it infront of a parson who didn 't even order it, and even after we told her who they were for, just left it there.....would you not have picked this up and actually served it to the correct person? The prawn cocktails came out on a slate and as much as this was very nicely presented, knowing that someone with only the use of one arm had ordered this, it would have been a better option to put this on a plate, so food could be scraped to the edge of the plate and picked up. Rather than a husband having to put his fork up against his wife 's and juggle getting the food on. That 's just a food for thought, incase you have anyone else in this position in the future. We then had the mains served. Out of the 10 orders, were four full racks of ribs. One of these came out as a half. We asked the waitress if this was correct and she said, sorry, she would get the other half out. This came out AFTER the person had finsihed their dinner, which meant they had to take this away in a take away box. Seemed like there was no urgency to correct the error immediately. The burgers, I am sorry to say, are an actual joke. The burgers themselves looked like the small ones you get from Iceland. But yet, are being charged at nearly £14. That was shocking. The chips, were edible, but burnt. And again, please think about putting it on a plate (or atleast asking the person eating it what they would prefer) and not a wooden chopping board. A chopping board is for chopping after all...... We then asked for our cake to come out, so we could sing happy birthday and blow the candles out. We got told yes no problem, but you will be charged £2 per person for eating there at no point had we mentioned we wanted to eat it there and had actually already mentioned this prior to handing over the cake. We opted not to have a dessert as we felt quite deflated to be honest. When the bill came out, I asked if the 3 for 2 drinks had been deducted and she said no, thats only Friday 's . I think you need to make that clearer on your menu, as it just states Monday... Tuesday...etc and the Friday 's. But your drinks deal just says Evenings you need to amend that to specifically say Friday evenings as it is in fact false advertisement on your part. The bill came up, minus the £50 deposit (still baffled why you charged £5 for a baby) and to my surprise a £27 service charge. I asked for this to be removed, as I find this quite shocking to put on any bill. A service charge is not a given, it is a discretion by those who are paying. You cannot expect anyone to pay a service charge if they feel the service has not been up to scratch. As I previously said above, we have been here multiple times before and always had great service and exceptional food. Last night, just was not the same. It is a shame, as we come here for birthdays and we will be thinking twice now, due to the above."
