"Why 3 Stars? The restaurant is stylish and the food is of high quality. The service, while not the fastest, was warm and friendly. However, the main issue is the relationship between prices and portion sizes, which felt outrageous. With only four main dishes to choose from, it was challenging to find something that appealed to other diners in my group. Fitzroy had a somewhat pretentious vibe, almost experimental, and seemed very self-involved in a philosophical sense. It brought to mind an American sketch comedy show called Portlandia (a somewhat obscure reference). One memorable episode featured affluent diners with bizarre requests at a restaurant that caters to such clientele. The warm service helped mitigate any attitude problems, but the restrictive menu and exorbitant prices were apparent. The kitchen is skilled, but unfortunately, it doesn't offer good value. In the end, it simply felt absurd."

The atmosphere is pleasant and the food is delicious. However, since it's an old building, it can get a bit chilly at night.

Good food but cost of a meal for 2 has increased by around 50%. Whilst that’s a factor of the world we live in now, value perception is critical and has seemingly been overlooked in certain dishes.

The food was excellent, though it was a bit pricey. We dined at Tresandton in St. Mawes the day before, and the prices were comparable, but the establishment I mentioned is significantly more upscale. Voir le carte

Waited a long time to experience this renowned Fowey eatery. Service was relaxed but efficient as I expected. A really great ambiance. Wine list is interesting and having eaten at the NSK I was not surprised here. The menu is small but varied, something for us all. It was excellently cooked tasty although sides were a must. A choice of a salad or/ and boiled potatoes. Felt it was expensive for what it was, which was disappointing as it excelled at everything else.

Oh dear what has happened to Fitzroy, it used to be amongst the best and getting a table was a real prize to look forward to. The meal we had on Saturday night was awful: bizarre is one way to describe the cooking, but that flatters the food, which in more than one case was inedible. The amount of salt the chef used was ridiculous and it affected all 8 meals, what was he doing? I hate doing things like this and I only wrote this review after getting a similar view from one our local friends who ate there a week ago. Please Fitzroy, go back to what you did before. Our bill was over £650 and, on reflection, we simply should not have paid it, the food really was that bad.

"My girlfriend and I dined at this restaurant on a Monday evening, which is not typically a busy day. However, we arrived at 6:30pm and it was the last available table! The front of house manager greeted us warmly and handled a small issue with our reservation effortlessly. We were seated in a cozy area and offered drinks while our table was prepared. We quickly received glasses of Prosecco along with the menus, and they asked about any allergies—I mentioned my dairy intolerance which they noted. Soon after, we were led to our table with a beautiful view of the estuary, where our wine was waiting. A lovely amuse bouche and bread (with butter and oil for me) were served to start. My partner enjoyed a sweet potato foam, while I had a smoked salmon and caper dish (dairy-free). Both were delicious. Our smoked mackerel starters were equally delightful, one with a dairy foam and one without. Our main courses arrived in a timely manner and were both beautifully presented—roast cod for me and chicken breast for my partner. The dishes were all delicious. We finished our meal with an Irish coffee and a panna cotta, both of which were superb. Overall, it was an outstanding dining experience with impeccable service. Many Michelin-starred restaurants could take notes from the Old Quay House. We can't wait to return.
