"as a gluten-free vegan I fought for a week in the lake district, I didn't expect much, so that was such a hidden little jewel for me! eating the personal, everything was amazing. they made them so welcome and it was so nice that they were so good for gluten-free vegans also as not many vegan caffes. the food was so good that the next day we also came back for a takeaway (falafel kebab) I could even have a refined sugar-free cake! very recommended, I wish that this would be my local as I would be here all the time"

"We stopped at this restaurant for lunch to take with us on our climb up Helvellyn mountain. There were plenty of options for vegetarians, vegans, and those with gluten allergies. We chose the sweet potato and spinach pie, smoked tofu and salad sandwiches, and Anzac cookies (all vegan). These meals were exactly what we needed when we reached the summit of the mountain - they were delicious! The pie was incredibly moist and tasty. We liked the food so much that we returned the next day to buy more of the same, along with some vegan shortbreads for our journey home. This place is a combination of a shop and a cafe, so there are plenty of food and drink items available for purchase."

"Amazing quality and service! The food is incredible, lots of choice from the menu and staff are great in helping point out drink recommendations and specials. The lamb was the most succulent I've ever had and the red cabbage, I just wish I could recreate that! Will be returning and recommend to everyone."

"The food here was fantastic. Large portions that were cooked to perfection. When my youngest change her mind on what she wanted it was no hassle for them to get a new meal out to us that took about 2 minutes for them to prep and serve.I had the priest burger and it was excellent. I was stuffed after it and couldn't manage a pudding even though they all sounded fantastic.The staff were brilliant. Meeting us at the door, giving us time to go through the menu and easy to get attention when needed a refill on drinks. They even showed us where we could hang our dripping wet coats so that they were not on the back of our chairs."

"Just got back from a two night break staying here we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Mortal Man Inn. The staff were very friendly, the food was fantastic the Thursday eve story poetry reading was so entertaining! The scenery around the Inn is spectacular there are walking routes to take right from the pub with printed guides available. A special shout out to Landlady Kate for the hangover Friday morning! Also to Spider who seemed to be working tirelessly twenty four hours a day to look after us. A very memorable stay we will hopefully be back again in the not to distant future! Regards, Jamie Susie"
