"Really beautiful old building, peaceful, quiet, all the views you could want, lawns, river walks and minutes in the car out of Newcastle. Food superb, breakfast cooked to order and served fresh and hot to your table by staff that are all pleasant and eager to please. Very comfortable bed and super wet room provided as back pain means I am unable to climb into a bath. Stayed in Slieve Donard and Burrendale in the past but this is the place we will go back to. The peace and quiet, the food and the service, (including internet) is worth putting up with some slightly elderly furniture."

I enjoyed my stay in this beautiful hotel with my man and 2 year old son. the staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful. the breakfast and the evening meal were nice. the ground is amazing with a beautiful river to foot with many different trees and plants. I will be coming back

I booked in here because I couldn't get into the Slieve Donard, or The Burrendale. I'm really glad I found this it's a small hotel, in a stunning location. OK, so it may not be up there with bigger hotels in terms of contemporary furnishings, bathroom etc., but it got me chilled out within 10 minutes of arriving. So peaceful, very friendly and professional staff. Great views from the bar and restaurant. This will be my first choice next time I'm down in Newcastle.
