"The hotel is about 7kms away from Baiersbronn in a small town called Obertal. The location of the hotel and the town itself are situated in a very charming place within the block forest. Perfect location if one wants to go to the near by Schwarzwarld National Park for anything. One can go via the hotel directly as well. By Bus, bus 200 goes to the top of the National Park from a nearby stop and hardly takes 5 minutes. The hotel covered our breakfast and lunch. The quality of the food was really good. They offer a very small lunch buffet but the breakfast buffet is huge and also has a lot of freshly made produce. In one of their packages, one can get a 5 course dinner included, which takes care of all the food requirements for the day. A pleasant surprise was their cake section. The cheese cake and black forest cake were amazing. I ordered them twice in three days and yes both of them each time. The spa has a lot of options and even though it was not very clear from the outside, the spa is quite big, has a lot of steam and sauna rooms, also has a floating pool. I was lucky to not find a lot of people using the SPA during my stay which meant that I was free to choose anything I wanted. Otherwise appointments are needed for some of the facilities. The hotel interiors has a charming old feel, which I like a lot. The services and the amenities were amazing. They offer daily hikes and plans for interested individuals free of cost. Overall I highly recommend this hotel."

Nice and peaceful hotel in northern black forest. Perfect place to hide from stressful city life. I did try their lumi lumi massage it was heavenly. They served a great dinner too! The staffs are helpful and very friendly. It's really a great place to spend your relaxing time.

Wir hatten seinen sehr tollen Aufenthalt über das Wochenende. Die neu renovierten Zimmer sind sehr schön eingerichtet. Der Wellnessbereich wird aktuell modernisiert, was uns jedoch im Aufenthalt nicht negativ aufgefallen ist. Wir freuen uns wieder zu kommen und sind gespannt auf weitere Modernisierungen. Beautiful surroundings, competent, friendly service, very nice wellness area, sport program, very good food... It is a traditional hotel with many guests who have visited yearly for decades and some rooms are a bit weary. On the other hand, the hotel has completed many tasteful and modern renovations and continues planned renovations. Vor kurzem habe ich wieder einmal 5 Tage Urlaub im Hotel Engel Obertal gemacht. Sowohl der Empfang als auch der gesamte Aufenthalt waren sehr erfreulich. Ich fühlte mich sehr gut und herzlich betreut. Die angebotenen Speisen sind nachhaltig, gesund und sehr schmackhaft. Mein großer Favorit ist die Saftpresse beim Frühstücksbuffet für einen gesunden Start in den Tag. Ich freue mich jetzt schon wieder auf meine nächste Zeitinsel im Hotel Engel Obertal Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5

Honestly great, the rooms, the meals, and especially the SPA, which is the best I've seen so far, and I've done a lot, the SPA is prohibited for children under 16 years old, TOP so there are no kids running in all directions screaming and swimsuits are also prohibited....and guess who ignores the bans in the German SPA.....the French who keep, against all odds, the jersey!!!! for a price of around €200 per person you have lunchtime brunch (remember to come the same day around 12:30 p.m. to take advantage of it), unlimited access to the spa, the room and breakfast (which is enormous). we preferred to have the evening meal à la carte and not the 55€ menu with 5 courses.
