"Well, I like reviewing and have to say having visited Mother Kelly 's many times since 2008 last night was 'poor ', now.... Maybe it was because we booked for 19:30 after watching a film at the nearby Port Solent, which had plenty of options to dine, but we thought no Mother Kelly 's on way home be just dandy. WRONG... Arrived bang in 19:30 place was ghost town with 3 other tables occupied, two eating one waiting for service, we entered were shown a table in the window (table 4) and chose our food from the menus, (my partner wanted scampi as usual, but a sign on the counter said Sorry NO scampi) do she chose Steak and Ale Pie, after about 10 minutes the solitary waitress came to our table to take our order on a tablet... We ordered asking for the Pie... to be told NO Pies left, So rethink, ahh Fish bites then abd a large Cod and trimmings, thank you, by this time Just us and one other table of patrons remained.... After about 10-15 minutes the food arrived, the fish bites well batter bites with fish is more apt a discription, my fish was okay, but was triple batter.... Obviously end if night for them, nothing in booking to say service stops at 8pm I had the choice of many later times when I booked on The Fork.... Disappointed and much like the Country you actually come to expect the disappointment received..... I have other bookings over the next Month with The Fork.. hopefully those restaurants are better stocked and the food is 'nicer '.... I really hate giving poor reviews but you put your head aboveground and you 'll possibly get shot"

Went with Friends to Deep Blue Fish and Chips (Ma Kelly's) Paulsgrove today. We all had a lovely meal and really enjoyed it. Food was cooked fresh and Piping Hot. Staff very friendly and efficient. Will definitely be returning.

Gill was our lovely waitress. She was welcoming, friendly, relaxed but professional. I had cod and chips. The cod was AMAZING. Fresh, soft, melt in the mouth. Absolutely delicious. I can not recommend this restaurant enough. Worth a visit

Went here the other day after not going for a while and it was absolutely brilliant! Wasn’t sure how I would take to it after the change in management but I have nothing bad to say- food and service was wonderful, much better than it used to be that’s for certain. Can’t extend my thanks enough to the staff and manageress for making it a great visit.

I didn't enjoy this place when i first ordered over a year ago however I thought I'd give it another try recently and honestly I am so glad I did. The fish was beautiful and the chips where fresh and real chip shop chips! Not the rubbish most people give you these days! Great portions for all of us, kids included and although slightly more expensive than the average chip shop well worth the money!

As usual the food was faultless, however, there was not enough staff. Mainly one waitress waiting on all tables with occasional help from a young man. We waited a while for sauces. We intended to have a dessert and hot drinks but after some considerable time waiting, our table still not cleared or asked if we wanted desserts we paid and left. A Birthday lunch a little spoilt. But the food was great!

For few users the service was very slow. We waited 30 mins before order taken. The whole time was 2 hours for fish and chips and desert which seemed excessive. Although the staff were friendly when attending they did not seem to go the extra with offering more drinks etc. We also had to pay the bill before our desert. Great food, hot and tasty but for this food outlet to improve they need staff support training.
