"On a beautiful Tuesday in August, my mother, our friend, and I decided to go out for a meal. In this area, not everything is open on weekdays for lunch, so I called to see if they were serving, having been there a couple of years ago. I didn't realize that the restaurant is now under different management, but after a quick search on Tripadvisor, the reviews looked good, so we made a reservation for 1pm and headed over. We were greeted by Amy, a lovely lady behind the bar. She was very friendly and couldn't do enough to help (thank you, Amy!). We then sat in the beer garden and chose our meals. We all decided on the two-course £10 menu. My mother went for the ham and potatoes, our friend chose the cod and chips, and I, being more health-conscious as I've been trying to lose weight, asked if I could possibly have the pear and blue cheese salad on the starter menu, but as a main course? Andy was happy to accommodate (thank you, Andy!). Our meals came out, brought by Lydia, who was a cheerful and friendly person and also said it was no trouble to make the salad for me (thank you, Lydia!). I was very grateful, as anyone who has dieted and eaten out will surely understand! Anyway, everything was absolutely delicious! Each meal was well presented and smelled wonderful, and I can honestly say it tasted as good as it looked! 3 very happy people. For dessert, the ladies had Eton mess, and Andy kindly made me a fruit salad with strawberries, pineapples, and pears! It wasn't on the menu, but he allowed me to have 'pud' with the others! Everything was truly wonderful and I can only say good things. We are determined to return as soon as possible to try the evening menu, which looks lovely. Andy (the chef) came out to chat with us after our meal and he was very enthusiastic and passionate about his food, which was really nice to see. He clearly cares a lot about what he serves. Highly recommended!"

Excellent food and atmosphere, we had a lovely evening, clean plate's all round. Definitely worth popping in if you fancy home cooked food and a game of pool.

The atmosphere is not local. It is modern and new. However, the staff was great, very welcoming. We had food, which was very nice and at a good price. We were pleasantly surprised. We stayed and had some drinks afterwards. There was a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere with good and honest food.

Just had the best Sunday carvery dinner ever. The beef was to die for and there was a great choice of veg. We went towards the end of the serving and it was all still hot and lovely. Proper roast potatoes too. Can’t rate it enough. If you’re in the area, this is the best Sunday dinner for miles around. Voir le carte

Our kitchen being rebuilt and fueled with fish and chips, I thought I would give it a try, especially because I enjoy bistro food. Very pleased because of the good menu, good wine, good food, and friendly service. Reasonable prices and a good variety of options. The other half went back a few days later with friends and found it very good. We will use it regularly.

My kitchen being renovated and craving fish and chips, we went to Data. I have always liked bistro food so we went there with high hopes. Data met those hopes perfectly with good food, good house wine, and reasonable prices. A great menu to satisfy all tastes. My wife and I went back with some friends a few days later and it seemed good again. I hope it stays that way as we start to use it frequently.

After a long walk from hopton to bucknell. We called in to rest our legs. We was greeted by Steve the landlord who was very friendly and welcoming. After one to many drinks we realised we had missed the one of few trains running back to Hopton. Steve kindly offered to run us back which was very much appreciated otherwise we would of been stuck. We will pop in again when we’re next in the area to say hello. Happy birthday again for yesterday. Voir le carte

I am lucky to live very close to Sitwell's Bistro in the arms. I have tried almost everything on the menus or on a solo visit, small group, or large party, and it has not disappointed yet. I am now trying the new menu again and I highly recommend everything I have tried so far. The curry monkfish dish is lovely and the black pudding and quail egg pudding is fabulous! Andy, Lydia, and their family are so nice: they make you feel like family! I love it!

My partner and I visited this restaurant for dinner while staying at the Baron at Bucknell. My partner made a reservation over the phone after reading positive reviews online. The lady who took our call was very helpful and gave us directions that were more accurate than our GPS. We followed her instructions and arrived in about 10 minutes. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by other customers and the staff, who were all very polite and welcoming. The interior had a traditional pub vibe, which we really liked. We originally planned to order the T-bone steak, but they were out, so we went with the sirloin, which was recommended by the staff. It turned out to be one of the best steaks we...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity. "Fantastic range of small dishes and meals for lunch and dinner. The menu ranges from scandi to oriental, so something for everyone. The menu is clearly marked with allergens, including what meals can be adapted. The chicken is halal and vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. The cocktail and mocktail menu is great and they do one of the best espresso martinis in Shrewsbury. The decor is modern and comfortable and there is plenty of space. As a wheelchair user, I can get into the ground floor and to a table. The outside seats are up a small step, but the whole front of the building is a retractable wall of windows, so I can still get the feeling of eating outside in good weather. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about allergies, the menu and the wine list. The staff are helpful and unobtrusive. The only difficulty for me (hence the 4 star review) is that the accessible bathroom is next door, in their sister bar, Libertine. Unfortunately, libertine isn't open the same hours as HotRS, so I can only use it at certain times. The ladies does have a lock on the door, so staff have cleared the ladies toilets, which allowed me to take my chair in and lock the door. I had to walk a couple of steps to get into a stall but my chair was safely with me. Of course, there is also no alarm cord, but they stood outside the door so would have heard if I shouted for help."
