"Looking for a meal out with a very picky eater who loves pizza we opted for this restaurant based on its reviews. When entering the restaurant I was a little apprehensive but was pleasantly surprised, staff were friendly and inviting. They quickly took our drinks orders. giving us extra time to select our dishes. The food was served quickly, delicious and hot. The pizza lover’s margarita pizza was cooked perfectly and the duck dish was tasty. Staff regularly checked if we were happy and required any more drinks. What we really appreciated was we were dining with another couple we had not seen for a while so we’re having a chat, no one rushed us and none of this two hour eating slots you find at most restaurants a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely return."

I'm not a great chef but I'm confident I could have done a better job than what was served. Massive meals made of cheap ingredients all poorly put together. I'm pretty sure Nonna would be very unhappy

Visited for a birthday celebration and we were made to feel welcome immediately by the staff. Although quiet for a Tuesday evening the food was good and served promptly. We had their fixed menu with complimentary wine. If you didn’t want to travel far this is a good choice for a local restaurant Voir le carte

Visited for dinner the other night. The food was probably slightly less than average compared to other Italian restaurants I have visited in nearby towns. I have given 3 stars instead of 2 as the wine was cheap, the service was good and friendly and the bill wasn’t too harsh on my bank account. I still wouldn’t visit again.

Have been to Da Vinci's several times in the past and have always had good food. This time was disappointing. Most of the others in my party seemed satisfied with their meals. We all, except my son, ate from the set Sunday menu. I really wish I had not. I had duck rolls to start. I've had them before and enjoyed them but this time they were not served with a side salad but raw chopped onion! My main was chicken parmesan which I found to be dry and tasteless. I decided to give dessert a miss and had a liqueur coffee instead (that was very nice).

"This was our first visit. I have to remind myself that this is a training environment for students but there should be someone in charge, who is identifiable to direct the students on how to present a menu and how to place a dish in front of customers. However, four courses for £35, amuse bouche counted for one course. Amouse bouche lacked any seasoning, orzo starter, well cooked but again lacked seasoning. My wife had fish, Coley, which was nice. I had chicken breast on a bed of curry sauce with hassleback potatoes. My whole dish was luke warm at best, the curry sauce was overpowering, and the hassleback potatoes were not crispy. The chicken was lovely and moist and I ordered a side of triple cooked chips which were super hot, expensive at £4, I only wish the rest of my dish was that hot. I had cheese and biscuits which consisted of Brie, blue cheese and cheddar together with chutney. My wife had Pain Perdue which was well presented and tasty. The restaurant is more like a cafe, not cosy, so don't choose it if you want a romantic evening. Overall would I go again? probably not. If you are ever near the Lake district try to book a table in the restaurant at Kendal College. On a final note; there is parking on an evening next to the college. Drive up to the barrier and press the call button, security will let you in. The barrier opens automatically on exit."
