"I used to visit this restaurant regularly when it was Sylhet but having retired from Police Headquarters (opposite the restaurant) in 2014, I hadn 't been aware of Sylhet closing its doors about one year ago and Cumin evolving in its place. Once I became aware of this I looked at the reviews for Cumin on Tripadvisor and they were very encouraging so I booked a table for two and hubby and I went last Friday15 November. We were well known by the staff at Sylhet and always received a really warm welcome and had a chat withe manager whenever time permitted. So, it felt strange walking in and receiving a rather luke warm welcome. We were shown straight to our table and given menus and we ordered a bottle of wine. The menu was extensive and we both studied it in detail as there were many dishes listed that were new to us. We are both medium fans and we did feel that the chef specials were swamping us by hot or mild ones! Eventually we went for papadum and chutney tray (me) and the fish pakora (hubby). I thought the chutney tray was a bit pricey at £4.50 and the inclusion of coleslaw was a little random. My partner 's fish pakora was lacking in spicy batter and was just like a plain fish goujon. For mains we ordered the Murgh Tanger but requested it was made medium and exotic (chicken) garlic massala which was categorised as medium. We had read so much about the gunpowder potatoes that we just had to try them and one portion of pilau rice. We were given plenty of time to eat our appetisers and then our mains arrived which we were sharing. My first taste was the Murgh Tanger immediately followed by a sharp intake of breath the flavour was really delicious but it was sooo hot! Next was a taste of the exotic garlic massala also a fab flavour but too mild!! I had a word with a waiter about the heat of the Murgh Tanger as I had specifically asked for it to be medium and he immediately went to take the dish back to the kitchen. However, I said: No, I love the flavour; if I could have some tandoori mint sauce that will cool it down and it did. In fact it was delicious an interesting experiment!! We both really enjoyed our meal but agreed one main was too hot and the other too mild which we would remember next time. Yes, there will be a next time in fact we have booked for Christmas Day! We always prefer a good Indian meal to a Roast Turkey dinner and Cumin have got the job! We hope that we can give them a 5!!"

Third visit now as it’s local to our training venue . Has not disappointed on any visit . Staff very friendly atmosphere excellent and food top notch .

Visited with friends recently. Service was great from start to finish. We all had different dishes, everyone commented on how nice the dishes were. Big sized portions on the mains but really great quality!

Wow blown away with the food. Out with my dad and we thought we'd bob in and try it out. Best choice ever. Please try the gunpowder potatoes if you go they are marvelous. Friendly staff, great food really great venue

chicken thali meal , 2 chicken curries samosas ,rice ,naan bread and Aloo Gobi cauliflower and potatoes tomatoes side dish. Chicken Korai along with chips absolutely fantastic. This is now our local curry house. Staff really nice. Support your local curry house.

All nice and service good, but I gave it the last chance today and I’m afraid it’s very bland food.. popddoms come with coleslaw??? No lime pickle either and soggy onions.I really hoped it would be better but there are much better Indian restaurants around than this.. sorry

This was our second visit for the thali tapas offer on a Tuesday and it was just as good as last time. 3 curries (1 lamb, 1 chicken, 1 veg), onion bhajis, seekh kebabs, pilau rice and garlic naan bread all for the bargain price of £8.95. Everything tasted amazing and the service was fantastic. Can't wait to return again soon. The menu for the thali is changed weekly and announced in advance on their Facebook page.

Excellent evening. The reception was prompt and courteous and we were asked to take a seat in the waiting area. We chose our food whilst having a drink and after a brief wait we were shown to our table . It's a relaxed and modern decor and the tables aren't close to each other . We had poppodoms for starters which came with 6 sauces each of which were superb. The mains came quickly afterwards without a long delay. Both were so fresh and tasty with the rice cooked perfectly. I had the South Indian chilli chicken dish which was spicy and amazing to taste. The drink prices are good with a bottle of red for £14. Overall an excellent evening with great food , prompt service and a reasonable cost...

Last Saturday evening I took 22 people from the local golf club for a meal at Cumin. Even though I had been there before I was slightly apprehensive as to how they would deal with the numbers and provide a quality service.My fears were totally unfounded. There service was excellent from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. They took our orders very quickly and the food and drinks were served in a very timely manner. There was nothing that they couldn’t do for us.As always the food was fantastic and great value for money. I thought the drinks were reasonably priced as well. The atmosphere was great and everybody in my party enjoyed themselves. I will definitely be going back again and...
