"Sunday roast literally the best pub roast I've had in a long time and the best I've had in Shoreham EVER! Reasonably priced, generous portions with roast potatoes that are actually crunchy, crispy AND fluffy, succulent meat, a proper nut roast (I'm so sick of Wellingtons) and cauliflower cheese where you can actually taste the cheese (a rarity these days). The broccoli and savoy were not overcooked and were a welcome addition after being served only root veg at another nearby establishment the week before. Friendly and helpful staff even my dog was made welcome, with water and gravy bones. Please keep this team in the kitchen for ever, like slaves for my Sunday roast requirements lol. No pictures because we were having a no phone day, but it was beautifully plated too."

Had an amazing roast dinner and friend had fish and chips. Both meals were delicious and staff were great. I’d highly recommend to go .

The restaurant is in a gorgeous location with stunning views. The food and service were superb, despite some renovations due to new management. They handled everything exceedingly well, even under the circumstances.

We both ordered a blt asking for the bacon to not be too crispy. What we got was stone cold congealed bacon in a cold bun and tepid scraps of fries. After pointing this out to the waitress there was no apology. I also booked the table in advance and was not informed the conservatory would have scaffolding inside. Voir le carte

Amazing roast at the Crown Anchor today our first visit but definitely not our last. They were very accommodating with a veggie roast for me with swapped items so it was just how I like it. And all completely delicious. Crispy roasters, giant yorkies and they didn’t overlook the roast parsnips! Can’t wait to go back.

I went to this restaurant on Sunday for a roast dinner and I have to say it was the best I've had in a long time! I usually prefer to cook at home, but my family wanted to go out for a change. I couldn't find any faults with anything, the staff were attentive and friendly. We ordered the Beef, which was tender, accompanied by delicious roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding, and was well-presented. My daughter had the Pork and her friend had the Chicken, and both of them finished their meals completely. I will definitely be returning again.

Decided to go for Sunday lunch. We walked over a table and I nearly spilt my drinks which I had just purchased when I sat them down onto a very wonky surface. I just managed to save them! We moved tables but before we could alert the waitress, a crowd of people arrived at the table and lo and behold, their tray of drinks smashed on the floor. Not a great start. I ordered the pork belly and it was awful. It was so salty and tough. My partner had the vegan option and he enjoyed it. There was very little atmosphere and we won’t go back. Such a shame as we had high hopes. Voir le carte

I went to this restaurant for a Christmas Dinner priced at £75 and was extremely disappointed with the selection. The gammon was so tough that it was impossible to cut and chewing was a challenge. There were only 5 tiny Brussels sprouts on the plate, which were like bullets, and no other vegetables in sight. The turkey was the best part of the meal, but there was only one slice. The gravy seemed to be just oxo in water. To top it off, the person in the kitchen, who I assume was the chef, accidentally set fire to the Christmas pudding and set off all the smoke alarms. This was without a doubt the worst Christmas dinner I have ever had in my 60 years.

Pre-Covid we went here quite often. Decided to go back today. We had booked lunch. Had to wait to be checked in. When we did we were given menus and told where to sit. Had no service and after 20 minutes I checked in again at the reception counter. I was told by the person there there was no table service as she was the only front of house. I ordered and about ¼ hour later we got our food. We had sandwiches, we were not given a choice of bread but basically the food was acceptable. If the staffing situation was so bad we should have this explained to us at the start and not had to go back to find out. We won’t be going there again, it was too disappointing.

"Last night, I had the pleasure of dining at Etch by Steven Edwards in Brighton, and I can confidently say it was one of the most memorable meals I’ve had in recent memory. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, with modern yet comfortable décor that set the tone for a truly elevated dining experience. The menu, a celebration of seasonal ingredients and innovative cooking techniques, offered a delightful blend of creativity and finesse. Each dish was expertly crafted, balancing bold flavors with delicate textures. Standout moments included the scallops cooked to perfect and the marmite infused bread, where the precision in cooking was evident in every bite. The use of locally sourced produce added a fresh, vibrant touch to each course, and the presentation was nothing short of stunning. Service was attentive without being intrusive, with staff offering knowledgeable recommendations and explaining the inspiration behind each dish. The wine pairings, too, were thoughtfully chosen, complementing the flavors of the meal beautifully. What impressed me most, however, was how Etch manages to combine a fine dining experience with a relaxed atmosphere, making it the perfect spot for both special occasions and casual indulgence. In short, Steven Edwards has created a restaurant that not only excels in flavor but also offers an experience that feels both personal and extraordinary. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Brighton who appreciates exceptional food and great service.
