"Formerly known as BORN APPETIT, this restaurant is one of the most well-managed, cleanest, and friendliest places we have visited in a long time! It is definitely worth a visit. The staff and atmosphere were delightful, the decor was fun and interesting with an eclectic mix. The restaurant is child and dog friendly, with welcoming and attentive staff. We enjoyed cream teas followed by a gin tasting, which was a unique and enjoyable experience. The restaurant also has a small gift shop where you can taste locally sourced gin and rum. The food prices were the best in the village and we witnessed freshly cooked meals being served to visitors who ordered specials of the day. There are plenty of eating options in this small village, but we are glad we read TripAdvisor reviews and found this gem. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend it."

Our third visit here and consistent quality in their food and goods. All topped off with a great helping of friendly old fashioned hospitality. Great to see our little Westie treated too!

The service at this restaurant is fabulous, and they have the best cream tea I have ever had. The warm, fresh scone with proper clotted cream and jam was beautifully presented and absolutely delightful.

A lovely cosy cafe. Very friendly waitress greeted us. Had beef topedo which was delicious and biscoff cake which was moist. Hubby mentioned it was my birthday and they even put a candle in the cake and said happy birthday. Lovely food and lovely staff. We shall be back!

Now called Born Appetite, we had a fantastic Asian sharing platter for 2 for lunch with a great selection and lovely sauces. It made a lovely change to the usual sandwich or pasty. A lovely selection of cakes as well as a cream tea is also available. It is also the home of Dunster Gin and they stock a large variety of gins and rums and offer samples for tasting. Highly recommend.

We’ve just had a week’s stay in Dunster and ate at Born Appetit on about 4 occasions. The food was excellent! In addition to the usual tearoom favourites there was also a separate vegan menu and a selection of Filipino/Thai dishes. Mia, Spencer and all their staff are so friendly and recommended local days out. They also have a great range of gins to taste and buy. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in the area.

Came in when visiting Dunster and it was lovely. The staff managed to move a table to fit six of us, the food was VERY quick and we left a tip! The shop itself is very unique and had a large selection of gin, with a little tasting station. My mum has quite a few dietary requirements but was able to order easily as many items on the menu already catered to this, as well as there being a separate menu for GF and vegan options. Will be coming back when we are in the area again :

The George Inn

The George Inn

"Yet again we needed to celebrate having resolved a long standing technical problem. The pub in Brompton Regis came up in discussion the evening before when our neighbour was around for a glass of wine. He said that before coming to our village he’d looked at houses in Brompton Regis. He left and we booked a table. Friday was a damp day but we were not deterred as we drove up into the Brendon Hills, usually distant views greet one but this day the clouds were dominant. However as we descended from Roborough Gate towards Wimbleball Lake we could turn off the wipers. By the time we crossed the bridge at the top of the lake a shaft of sun broke through and sparkled across the surface of the water whilst light wisps of mist kissed the shore line. Rounding the churchyard wall always raises our expectations for there is the George Inn. The bar door was hardly open before Tash, a beaming smile, greeted us with a price board for ‘COFFEE’. I said in my previous review that I wouldn’t mention coffee at the George again, sorry, but I must. The coffee machine had arrived the day before. Well done Tripadvisor the George! We had a wonderful starter of Baba Ganoush, new to the menu that day. It was exceptionally good with delicate flavour. Following on was chicken breast and pasta with tomato sauce, again great flavour though my wife found it a little too greasy. My Bengal curry was fantastic and a most generous serving. Our ‘Desert,’sic, was Chocolate Ganache with pistachio ice cream under crunched nuts. I had the steamed maple syrup pudding set in a delicious whisky sauce, a very delicate and light texture, just right to finish on after the curry! Of course we had our long awaited espressos from the new device, a delicious finale to our meal. Earlier in walkers had dropped in wanting a coffee. Now all on Exmoor should be heading to the George for their ‘hit’."
