"This was a charming afternoon. We left Cremona for lunch at 1 PM, drove 15 minutes to Lago Scuro, just out of town, and returned at 5 PM. Lago Scuro is a working farm, agro-B&B and restaurant on the outskirts of Cremona in Lombardy. They produce a range of products from lovely, relatively young cheeses to many different fruits and vegetables. I met them first at the Farmers' Market in Cremona. The main house is also a fine restaurant on Saturday and Sunday. The menu includes only one choice, what is fresh that day, beautifully prepared. They were also one of the few places in all of Italy that bothered to prepare vegetarian secondi piatti! We began with bread and oil, the bread showing the salutary German influence of Northern Italy. We tasted some of the house rosso, which was uncommonly well made. Next, there was an antipasto course which was a kind of herb muffin with a lovely soft cheese baked inside. Then there was a pasta course of tortelli stuffed with spinach and ricotta with a dreamy parmesan cream. Secondi (for us vegies) were an eggplant torta featuring another of the farm's cheeses, followed by a salad of a very fresh, wild green I did not recognize and the waiter could not recall the name of. Finally dessert was a simple but well made chocolate cake, uniced, and served with whipped cream and almond brittle. After lunch we strolled around the grounds of this wonderful old cascina which used to house 15 families. The result is that the main house has an abundance of spacious dining rooms that are filled with no more than three tables per room, so even if a large family is seated one can have a private conversation in relative peace. The gardens were in their last days (it was 2 November) but there were still tomatoes hanging on the vines and an abundance of greens. There is also a small lake at the back of the property. As we left we had a lovely chat with the chef and owner who greeted each party as they left. As we drove back to Cremona, the low sun showered golden pink light over the hazy fields."

Unforgettable location, warmness that immediately make you comfortable. Food is simply what you dream about: everything is really home-made, super saffron-risotto with meat, maltagliati monococco with herbs and cheese, T-bone steak with fresh oven cooked vegetables, super desserts. Huge and unconventional wine selection

It was just as I expected it: an old Cremonese Cascina, still with some frescoes, together with more rustic elements is an atmosphere that at the same time is elegant and rustic. An elegance in simplicity. Tasting menu at 45€ really satisfying, also with possibility of menu for vegetables. All exquisite and plentiful, in fact we asked to bring home what had remained. Here, let's say if you are used to eating light, maybe some digestion problem can be there! The staff is very prepared (even young people)! The service is fast. I fell in love with this place! I'll definitely come back.

wonderful place, in every small and accurate detail that makes you feel that ancient goto, sophisticated but familiar at the same time, austere but warm, precious but genuine, as if time had stopped. the taste and colors of autumn will envelop you, from the mise en place, to the scent of bread, to the panorama of the countryside. excellent food and abundant, raw materials km zero self-produced, accurate and accurate selection of wines. Fixed menu that varies every time, selection of bread and grissini, focacce with stracciatella, sliced and cheese, gardener, humo with vegetables, salad, risotto with ossobuco, egg to the few, marinated chicken on polenta, tiramisu and cannons to the cream of...

The place is in proximity of Cremona and is ideal if you need some time for yourself or in the good company of some friends and colleagues. You will be hosted in big rooms (don't be scared as you get the impression of being hosted in an old castle). Ask for those rooms with an amazing view of the park of this spectacular cascina (an Italian countryside house). Built at several stages between 1600-1800, this is a magic place that has found back his original ancient rhythm thanks to its owners, Mr. Fabio and Mrs. Paola. This couple loves the heritage of this house who belongs to the family from generation (in the attached church you can see the names of all the ancestors). Breakfast is served...

We had driven past some of the medieval farms in northern Italy and always wondered what it would be like to visit one. We had to chance to do more than that by staying at Cascina Lago Scuro near Cremona. Lago Scuro is a working organic farm and agriturismo (B B) set in a complex of farm buildings that date back to between 1600 and 1800. It includes buildings that served as housing for the farm hands, a chapel, the main house, stables, and a barn. The building have acquired some modern uses including being the homes of the family, a restaurant, a child care center, and space for making cheese. The buildings and setting are rustic but the guest rooms were very comfortable and spacious. The br...
