"We had originally planned to have breakfast at a local garden centre, but there was a long line and they had stopped serving breakfast by the time we reached the front. Instead of giving up, I searched on Google Maps for another nearby option and found Café Retreat. We were thrilled that we did! The café is clean, modern, and has a cozy atmosphere. Despite being busy, which we saw as a positive sign, we were promptly seated and attended to by a friendly and efficient staff. The menu offered a variety of options, with strong influences from Turkish and Mexican cuisine. Our food arrived quickly and was excellent! I particularly enjoyed the sausages, which were the best I've had at a café. We ended up spending about the same amount as we would have at the garden centre, where we also had a voucher, so Café Retreat clearly offers great value for money. We will definitely return, perhaps next time to try their lunch menu."

I would say that it is the best coffee I have ever had. They pay close attention to every detail. I highly recommend it! I will definitely be going back. Voir le carte

We went here for breakfast and we found the whole place was spotlessly clean and the food was excellent we ate every bit, the staff were very polite and friendly we enjoyed our food here. Our only negative is payment by card not accepted cash only. We had to go to a ATM

Visiting family who have moved to Talley and were looking forward to trying out this place for lunch but so disappointed and won’t be back. It was Saturday lunchtime and wasn’t a busy venue. The first items our grandchildren wanted were not available nor were the drinks. The meal we eventually settled for was left uneaten by the child as even he could see it didn’t look appetising. The girl server was friendly but she couldn’t make up for the surly boy server. Such a shame. Next time we’ll get a sandwich and drink from Sainsbury across the road. Voir le carte

I have visited this cafe several times as there are limited options in Tadley. I usually opt for breakfast, which is consistently well-cooked with high-quality ingredients, although slightly pricey. However, during my last visit, I decided to try a burger. I inquired if it came with chips, and this is where my disappointment lies, leading to a 3-star rating. Priced at nearly £10, the fact that the burger did not come with chips made it feel overpriced and lacking in value. This cafe, similar to Poppins, is enjoyable for its food quality but falls short in terms of value for money due to its pricing.

Came to collect some food and a hot chocolate for a relative in isolation. there are two sizes on the menu for hot chocolate, not that it states what the sizes are, but opted for the one 30p cheaper at £2.50. As I pick it up it feels VERY light, I thought maybe they hadn't added the milk in yet so opened the lid and told them the cup only has a splash of liquid in there. I was told this was the £2.50 size... I was met with hostility and felt embarrassed in front of customers so just accepted it and walked off. I refused to drink any, went home and measured it. A whole 100ml for £2.50... that's more than any luxury cafe I've ever been to! Very disappointed, they also took my cash before givin...

"Our first visit. We cannot praise thank The Wellie highly enough. What a find! Peacefully rural on a quiet road to the south of Baughurst. A classic, pretty country pub, now converted to an excellent restaurant, with three rooms. What strikes you first is how immaculate The Wellie is, inside and out. The large garden is a delight. Masses of dahlias and all manner of bushes and plants. Birds, birds and more birds. Do check out the vegetable garden beyond the rear car park. You then walk inside to the warmest of relaxed welcomes from the owners, Simon and Jason, and manager, Sheila, and their lovely young helpers. Nothing is too much trouble. The first thing you’ll spot is the array of fruit, veg salad for sale by the pub bar – the Wellie Deli. Along with home made jams, chutneys, quiches, etc. I then spotted the two hand pumps! Longdog Golden Poacher Basingstoke Pride. The seating inside is for diners every session is a sell out! But I was very happy to sup several excellent pints of well kept draught Basingstoke Pride in the garden – until I discovered their Negronis! Truly the best this side of Kwant (Piccadilly). We’d opted for the room in the pub: the Apartment. Two rooms on the first floor, knocked through. Enormous comfy bed, large rainfall shower, sofa, mini bar – two TVs! Free milk homemade shortbread. One of the discoveries we made here is the fabulous tea they serve from Prince Sons. As you can tell by now, we were very happy with our first stay at The Wellie… and then we went down for dinner! A truly exceptional menu from Jason’s kitchen, which changes each evening. Highlights were the scallops wrapped in pancetta, the pollack, the lamb pot pie, the twice baked cheese souffle, the NY cheesecake, the rhubarb ice cream, the treacle tart... All so fresh, tasty, and mainly from their garden. What we loved most was it was relaxed but fine dining without the tiny portions. The Full English breakfast the next morning was equally tasty. All in all, we did not want to go home! Thank you Simon, Jason Sheila. We will be back, soon."
