"I was in need of a cheap and filling meal, so I decided to try a burger at this restaurant. I was really hungry and on a budget, so I went with the regular burger option instead of the more expensive house special lamb burger. However, this turned out to be a mistake as the burger was of low quality and rubbery. Even worse than what you would find at a car boot sale. When I mentioned this to the friendly waitress, she recommended that I should have ordered the house special. I found it hard to justify the higher price for just a small amount of meat compared to what I was served. I regret not choosing the all day breakfast instead. The outdoor seating was a nice touch, but I did not recognize anything from the photo of the cafe. I would only return for a cup of tea if I was in a bind again."

Having worked in the area for 25 years and knowing all the restaurants in the area. Moreover knowing the previous owners who were fantastic; I went in today to try them out. I ordered a simple bag of chips and I got a measly, cold, uncooked, none of the sauces I requested, bland, salt less chips. Now if this is an example of the rest of the food, I will refrain from doing so. Thank you.

I wanted something light and cheap for lunch and this totally fit the bill. I had very good homemade vegetarian soup, and a piece of carrot cake which was about average (which is to say I ate it all! They have a comfortable seating area in the back and a good selection of standard fare, plus some specialties like Spanish omelet, moussaka and stuffed cabbage. Prices are reasonable for London.

While perusing the bustling Portobello Market on a Saturday morning, my wife and I were in need of some hangover-cure food to fuel us through the day. We quickly placed our orders at a friendly little coffee shop. I enjoyed a cappuccino and a hot and tasty bacon panini, while my wife opted for eggs on toast. The food was delicious and surprisingly hot, especially for a bacon sandwich. We found the prices to be reasonable and the overall experience to be pleasant. Voir le carte

Last Saturday I went with 3 friends to take some coffees and the waiter was not very kind. First he asked, are you going to drink 3 coffees being 4 people? and we said yes, now we just want 3 coffees. And after being seated and having ordered, one woman came and tell us that the table was occupied and we should leave. We felt quite disappointed as if it was really true, why do not they tell at first? So, it can be a good place, it really seemed it, but the customer attention is very poor and I feel I have to share it.

This small and what appears to be a family run cafe in Notting Hill is just off the main street with all the shops. It has a deli style counter when you walk in where one can order food to go but also room for seating in the back. The menu isn't exentsive but the food is well prepared and tasty. We had the specials of the day and which included a curry chicken dish and a chilli con carne dish and enjoyed them both. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a nice place to sit down and have an inexpensive lunch while shopping.

This café in the area is decent enough. I had the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, which was good - there was plenty of salmon and the eggs were poached perfectly, served with a small salad on the side. The omelette and chips were also tasty. However, the fresh fruit salad was disappointing for the price of £3.50, as it only consisted of one apple, one banana, and maybe two strawberries in a small amount of orange juice. We found it especially disappointing considering the abundance of fruit options at the nearby marketplace. Overall, our meal for two including mains, fresh fruit juices, fruit salad, flapjack, coffees, and tip came to around £30. Voir le carte

"A friend and I stumbled on to this neighbourhood restaurant by chance; no research, no booking, no expectations. We were then blown away by the quality of the food: wonderfully fresh fish, beautifully cooked. The service is also exemplary. I've always enjoyed calamari, but this was by far the best I've ever had: truly succulent and juicy. The mussels were almost as good, and the sea bream kept up the standard. The spiced quince with ice cream made a nice change from baclava in a Turkish restaurant (they still threw in some baclava). The owner, Tony, provides excellent recommendations — make sure you take them! He knows what's fresh that morning, and how his wife cooks it. The bill comes hand-written, and Tony forgot to include the wine (obviously I corrected him). I can't remember the last time a restaurant bill made a mistake in the customers' favour! No service charge is included, and it deserves a lot more than the usual 12.5%. This is a wonderful, old-fashioned restaurant, run by a charming old couple, committed to maintaining old-fashioned standards. The food is more than great and the prices more than reasonable. Service is personal, honest and responsive (providing Tony turns his hearing aid on). Tony warns you if anything you wanted was bought in, rather than home-made. Why don't unassuming but wonderful restaurants like this get Michelin stars?"
