"A friend recommended British Raj months ago, so i finally rang an order through, and was pleasantly suprised, i ordered beef vindaloo with pilau rice , the sauce had a nice heat to it and was tasty like an old school curry, not just full of hot chilli powder, and there was plenty of it,the beef was tender and fell apart loved it, rice and nan were ok too, my son had chicken tikka Rogan josh and rice, which he liked but said it could have done with less onions,he also ordered tandoori lamb chops ,so over all it was good, I'd certainly use it again and for the price of £19-20 its good value for the money"

Best Indian takeaway in the area. Great value for money. Simple, fresh ingredients and not at all greasy. The chef's specials menu features some delicious dishes that you can't get anywhere else. We always choose British Raj for our takeaway needs!

Probably the best curry place in town! The curries are absolutely delicious, hot and fresh. The chips are crispy and hot, and the poppadoms are beautiful. The mango chutney is also very tasty! Everything we have ordered so far has been delicious. Thank you British Raj!

first order from here and found it very good to eat. samosas exactly the right quantity seasoned. lamb tikka rogan josh was brill and my partner had veggie balti and loved it. very cheap and very valuable. my only criticism is that the curries were a little oily, but still tasted.

Absolutely fantastic! I ordered from Bang On! via Just Eat and it was one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever tried. The food was incredibly delicious. I even had to call the restaurant with a question and they were incredibly helpful. I highly recommend this place. I ordered onion bhaji, king prawns korma, keema bhuna, and a garlic naan, and everything arrived on time and piping hot.

This Indian restaurant is fantastic. The curries are incredibly delicious, with the rogan josh being a standout. They also offer a delicious fresh peshwari naan that is a must-try. Despite it being a bit off the beaten path in Mitington/Didsbury, this place is just as good as any other curry house in terms of taste, value, portion size, and quick service. Many thanks to British Raj for their fantastic food and service.

Im often disappointed with Indian takeaways that are chunks of overcooked meat in a radioactive looking sauce. Finally found a takeaway that doesnt do that but makes tasty curries with fresh ingredients and some interesting specials to try. I had the chicken chittagong which was very tasty and a bit fiery how I like it. Was a bit disappointed with the barbecued prawns and mushroom puri (greasy) but every other dish has been delicious

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."

"I've been to a couple of different Dishoom branches a few times and have never been disappointed by the breakfast options. The sausage naan roll is excellent. A couple of really tasty vegan sausages with some melted vegan cheese all wrapped up in a lovely soft naan and served with some sort of sweet chilli dipping sauce. My go to now is usually the vegan Bombay. It's a good hearty breakfast plate with... a couple of the same well seasoned vegan sausages. Some vegan tofu akuri a nicely spiced tofu scramble. Some very well cooked mushroom slices (that are maybe a wee bit under seasoned). The baked beans are really nicely spiced, elevating them far beyond the standard sweet sauce fare that's the usual. A few slices of well flavoured black pudding (that could be fried to being a bit crispier). A cooked tomato which is a bit dull, I've never been keen on tomatoes on my breakfast plate and this once has not changed my mind. It could do with some more charring and maybe some spicing. To help you mop everything up, the whole thing is served with a couple of soft bread buns that have been nicely toasted. I usually top the whole thing off with some chocolate chai with oat milk you get free refills for your chai. Unfortunately, it isn't wheelchair accessible. There are stairs up into the restaurant and various small flights of stairs to get to different parts of the restaurant. Updated from previous review on 2024 03 25"
