We enjoyed our fish and chips here in this half timbered building with sloping floors and ceilings. The staff were very friendly and it's obviously very popular with locals.

The fish and chips are excellent beautifully cooked and the portions are very good, friendly staff and the prices are not bad at all recommended as a place where you can enjoy fish and chips and other dishes that are traditional and tasty

I have found it difficult of late to get decent chips in Gloucester but this place ticks the boxes a late snack after a visit t see my father in hospital and my belly was filled with chips that for once are not soggy my partners fish cake and chips was also excellent! Voir le carte

Always in search of the perfect Fish Chips and may have found them here! As other state, the restaurant is upstairs and the service prompt and friendly. I had haddock chips. The chips were crisp and dry and the fish expecially the batter was magnificent! Its licenced too so you can have a beer or wine with your meal. A gem of a place

We went to this restaurant for lunch around 2 o'clock. We ordered the small fish and chips, but were extremely disappointed with the portion size. The piece of fish was incredibly small, more like a sardine, and we felt that it was overpriced at £10.45. We will not be returning to this restaurant and would not recommend it to others.

From the exterior looks like usual take away. Going upstairs is initially like going back in time to the 70s, but then much further back. First toilet I've ever been to during eating where if I wanted I could have had a full stand up shower. Fish and chips tasty chips very good but waitress nailed it. Arrive their to try out and surprising whole building is genuine very old and leaning ! Fish and chip not a issues at all it is all freshly made and not found a fish bone! They do sell soft drink plus wine or beer at reasonable price ! Ordered bread and butter is not to what my expectation it's dry and very tiny child bun type!! It would be better fresh thick bread and normal size .... Well what can I say I deffinlay coming back but my own bread !!

I recently had a late lunch of fish and chips at this restaurant and chose to dine inside. The restaurant is located upstairs in a unique room that slightly slants to one side, adding to its quirky charm. The staff member who served us was exceptionally polite and friendly, making us feel right at home. The food was outstanding; the fish was perfectly battered and tasted fresh, while the chips were cooked to perfection. For a delicious meal with great service in Gloucester, I highly recommend the dining experience at the Black and White restaurant and take away.

What a dump, the smell of old oil hits you as soon as you enter, the stairs to the upstairs restaurant are very very steep dirty looking, my wife had the 2 fish cakes chips, the fish cakes were way overcooked, the chips were hard on the outside way overcooked, I had the cod roe chips, the cod roe was okay but ruined by the crispy greasy batter,?my chips were also hard, I would recommend not going here if you want good fish chips, they overcharged us. Will never eat here again, even the restaurant is filthy, wallpaper hanging down in places the chairs are wobbly. Voir le carte
