Black Horse Inn - Carte

Really friendly pub staff. Stopped of here as a DofE checkpoint and the were kind enough to let the group use their toilets and provided water for them.

Had a christening here in the private area, everything was well taken care off! Walked around for a bit as well, great outside area and plenty of parking available. Staff waa super friendly!

No option to eat inside, outside menu limited and uninteresting. Wish I'd known that they'd locked the pub and were expecting everyone to use his and her's portaloos, I wouldn't have eaten there at all. Burger had no flavour and was overpriced. We visited The Black Horse apub on their last evening of trading, which we are so sad about. Gita and Alison, as always, did a fantastic job. The food was up to their usual very high standard. On every occasion we have visited the pub for dinner the standard of food, service and value for money has been outstanding. Your entire team is a credit to , well done. Please find a way to make your business plan work. You are both excited at what you do, the very best of luck in the future.

We had a family and close friends party for our joint birthdays, one of which was at the beginning of lockdown. It was held in the barn on a Saturday afternoon, and we chose the grazing table buffet, which was excellent with something for everyone. We sat inside for the meal and when the sun came out, we moved into the garden. The barn is a wonderful setting and nothing was too much trouble for Lisa and John. I would definitely choose The Black Horse for another celebration and recommend it to others.

I've been meaning to go for a while as I'd heard good things. I made it last night for the first time to meet a colleague. The pub is his local and regularly visits. With the heat, we sat outside in the beer garden. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. They had set up an outdoor kitchen and bar, a leftover from the pandemic and now coming in handy for the current heatwave. The food and beer was limited in choice but I found pretty good. We chose this restaurant as we were in the area and we wanted to stop off for a quick Sunday lunch and based on the reviews selected this. It has to be one of the worse Sunday lunches we have ever eaten! It can only be described as slop on a plate! Apart from the Yorkshire pudding which was freshly made (and hence the 1 star) the rest was just soggy vegetables and roast potatoes and lots of it! It was really unpleasant! I’m struggling to understand where all the good reviews have come from. Truly don’t bother! There are a lot better places to eat locally!

This was our third visit for Sunday roast a family of eight. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the food on this occasion, the starters were excellent but the roast beef was very tough to the point that my sister and elderly father could not eat it, the slices had like a griddle mark so I think perhaps it was warmed up this way. My husband had the chicken which was very dry and over cooked, the pork was ok. Also all of the meals were Luke warm. Twice we had to ask for enough cutlery to cover the starter and main meal. I feel obliged to state that I wasn't a regular to TBH. I visited with my girlfriend on several occasions when she was living in Chesham from 2021 2022. It became a place we would often think of when the days were luminous and sultry and we fancied enjoying a cold tipple. Predominantly because of the sweeping valley vista. The view never failed to take our collective breath away. You couldn't help but be almost overwhelmed by its bucolic setting. Deeply romantic even with a lot of children running around, or, with the porta loos at the bottom of the garden.
