"Popped in for dinner as it’s relatively close to us to find a proper pub selling well kept, local real ale. A reduced menu as the owners had just got back from a trip away, I had a Mediterranean vegetable pie and himself had sirloin...steak. Excellent food with proper chips, even if we couldn’t finish them. Made a lovely change to find a pub where people talked to you rather than shuffling you out the minute you’ve finished eating. Will definitely be back. Thankyou!"

Lovely rural setting, food was good, and adequate selection of drinks. Looking forward to a repeat visit.

Friday lunch at the GM is becoming a bit of a habit for us. Proper food, good ale and sparkling welcome. Still looking for a house in the vicinity............ Perfect!

Just how country pubs should be. Warm welcome, cold beer. Great value, delicious food. O.K. the building itself is a bit tired. Accept that, and enjoy arguably the best value pub grub in the county.

Had a great meal in this place for the first time in many months, thanks to Covid! However, the welcome was so nice that it felt as if we had been there only yesterday. Good food, and excellent company. Long may it last.

First time for lunch in We wouldn't have left it this long but for a busy winter schedule. We needn't have worried splendid lunches still available! Warm welcome, hearty menu, good ale and a roaring fire! Until the next time..........

The Stake and Stilton Pie is exceptional and the Sunday roast is hard to beat anywhere Either a single selection or a trio of meats, always wonderful, I have tried them both and not disappointed. A very cosy and welcoming pub to spend a lunch...or evening in.

Regular readers will know that we very much like this place. We booked a table for Sunday Lunch today to coincide with our Wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed! Bill's legendary roast really hit the spot and the atmosphere and banter in the...pub was brilliant! Really nice to see jovial Malcolm behind the bar. Roll on the next visit!

This is a beautiful Grade II listed pub. Over the past three weeks it has been run by Mick Everett and his lady. They have had the pub buzzing with all sorts of events quizzes, live music, a Burn's Night, to mention just a...few of them. And the Sunday lunches are excellent. This is how a pub should be full of people having a good time and being friendly to each other. It's been excellent seeing a board outside advertising what is coming next.

"We 're looking forward to trying the Pheasant again on a normal day. We went on Boxing Day and it was pretty disastrous. Meant to be a treat but it certainly wasn 't. Starters were nice, no cooking involved apart from the pesto. Then the mains. The beef was grey, not pink as I was told it would be but it was tender. The roast potatoes tasted a bit old but there were plenty. The Chantenay carrots were very soft. The Savoy cabbage was perfect but the portion was tiny. The gravy was nice but we got a different variety when we asked for more. The Yorkshire pudding was the main disaster; it seemed old, and very hard to the point of shattering. Desserts. The sticky toffee pudding was fine although the serving of sauce was very mean. The clotted cream with it is, in my opinion, the best way to serve this pudding, it 's a relief from all the sweetness. The apple crumble was terrible; it came in a bowl with the custard already in it with the pudding. The apple was sour and the crumble was squidgy stodge. The service was fine although some staff not yet fully professional. We would have expected a welcoming hello and goodbye but that didn 't happen. Our overall feeling was that there was serious penny pinching going on with the mains and desserts but this is a very bad idea when you are judged on your last meal but we do intend to try again because it 's such a wonderful building and we 've had many good experiences in The Pheasant, perhaps before the present owners, we 're not really sure."
