"Stayed here for two nights to visit family. The room we were allotted was freezing cold, quite small and had only tea and coffee for drinks, nothing for anyone who is unable to drink normal tea and coffee, unless you liked bottled water. I asked at the bar and a helpful member of staff did offer peppermint tea or for me to purchase a hot chocolate at the bar, which I had to do. The shower didn't work properly and the toilet seat moved when sat on in the room and the windows could to with a bit of a paint. Complained about the shower and toilet seat and ended up being offered another room for the second night. This room was also small, with no side table to put thing on near the window. The shower worked but the extractor fan didn't. On the sink was a sign that advised not to drink the tap water, which was missing from the first room. I had drunk a lot of the tap water the day before and if the sign had been there I would had not. Over all, I don't think I would ever stop here again, even though the service was fine. I feel a lot of work needs to be done to the rooms very soon."

Lovely place for a drink in the pub or beer garden, amazing setting by the river but the Food was so disappointing, microwaved nachos and microwaved pizza that even my dog wouldn't eat.

Very friendly welcoming pub, lovely to sit inside or out to eat, the food is lovely fresh, we had Sunday roast and one of the best we have had, all fresh veg, meat cooked to perfection very good presentation. Would definitely recommend. Voir le carte

The restaurant has a lovely setting, a fantastic outdoor seating area, delicious food, and a welcoming staff. Unfortunately, the accommodations at the hotel do not meet the same standards. The rooms are outdated, in need of a thorough cleaning, and the mattresses are uneven and uncomfortable. It is disappointing considering the price of the rooms.

Having had a meal at the Anchor 8 days ago which was very good we decided to try there Sunday roast and was very disappointed . The meat was very mediocre not much of it the roast potatoes were tough outside. Were only given equivalent of 1 carrot , tiny bit of overcooked brocoli, what we think was leeks in a sauce and the plate was swimming in peas . Unfortunately the Yorkshire pudding was tough. All in all not value for money! No one asked about food allergies of which Unfortunately I do have so some of my food ended up on my husbands plate . Very disappointed no alternatives for dessert.

"I know that cancellation policies are in place for a reason, for the 'no shows ' and for people who do not respect the 24 hour cancellation policy. I can only assume that this is the reason that this establishment has this in place. Sadly, on the morning of the booking, I had to rush my father to A and E. My husband rang to let the restaurant know as soon as we knew that we would not make it. This was because we cared and wanted them to be informed as soon as possible and provide them with the opportunity of securing another booking. My husband rang at his earliest opportunity which was about 9.30 am. We were aware that the restaurant does not open until 12 but we wanted to reach them as quickly as possible. The answering machine came on so my husband kept trying until he eventually got hold of someone. Once my father’s condition stabilised, I also emailed the restaurant to extend our sincere apology and to explain the situation. During the telephone conversation I am speechless not about the non-refundable deposit) but about how the restaurant responded. Even if the manager was not prepared to change our booking to another day, could she not have been more kind with her response? At least 'a sorry to hear about your father, but unfortunately... ' The whole telephone manner was rude, abrupt, and uncaring. I understand that business is business but please have a heart as well. This is why I am writing this review. We were not being rude or abrupt. This was about a family emergency and we were letting you know whilst in the midst of it all. This was a booking for two people, not a party of 10. Does the restaurant not operate a waiting list? Did they make every effort to find customers to replace our booking? Times are tough for many of us right now and a little bit of human kindness goes a long way whilst citing your well publicised terms and conditions."
