At Macdonald Bear - Menu

We had dinner. Food was not great, just not the quality we were expecting from a restaurant on the main street at Woodstock. Both of us were disapointed with our orders.

Great selection of dishes, there was 5 of us and we all enjoyed our chosen dishes. Only minor moan, food could have been hotter, the horseradish sauce punchier and hot custard with the crumble. But delicious all the same.

The staff were all super helpful and made us feel very welcome. The hotel itself is beautiful and the afternoon tea was delicious, the scones were fresh and warm and possibly the best we've ever had. Would definitely go back.

We had a lovely evening out with my elderly mother. Her first meal out since this all began. Staff were spot on, attentive but with minimal contact with the table. Food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Would recommend.

On arrival very poor service, fire very low therefore no warmth and NO Pino Gregio white wine! Service counter half full of ‘dirties’. Lunch poor, had to ask for horseradish and to pay £30 for a 2 course meal where the vegetables already on the plate is a clear error in what is described as a ‘top’ restaurant.

We were very happy with the food and the service. However when we came to pay -expecting the. £20 discount as we booked through Fork. The Staff denied being Fork members. That was the only disappointment of the everning. As we use Macdoonald Bear as our choice please reassure us that it is a Fork restaurant.j Thank you.

I was really disappointed with this restaurant. The food was very average and ketchup was served in plastic sachets! But when it came to desert the attitude of the manager was dreadful. My husband wanted one scoop of ice cream but was told he could only have 3. They had run out of shortbread for my desert and gave me a packet biscuit! No apologies! The attitude of the manager was unacceptable.

The waiter, Daniel, was accommodating and had good interesting knowledge about the building. We loved his service! Although we did allow the chef to serve the beef how they thought was best to serve, it was too rare which was a shame. The chips could have done with a touch longer cooking also. The rest of the food was excellent. I recommend the calamari starter. The place was almost empty which I suppose some would prefer, we found it a little awkward at times.

well.its false advertising..outside the front door and on their website it state eat out to help out ...50% off...but when the bill came £149.00 only £20 was taken off. At no point were we told or shown this This is decieving .Food was prepared to a high standard...still feel miffed at being in the dark...I see other dinners surprised as well. . Having said all that the food was delicious, the bread fantastic. They didnt cook my wifes steak to well done but was easy enough to cook a little further on. At some point I was going to ask for a table near a waiter as 2 tables were served drinks before us as we were seated 10 minutes before they arrived! But they were friendly staff and the food q...
