"We booked (24hrs in advance) for an afternoon tea for two, and we were not disappointed. They'd reserved a lovely spot for us looking out to sea across the Isles, and all colleagues were very attentive right from the get-go. The decor and ambience of the room were very nice, it's a bright and airy setting with a stunning view. The afternoon tea was plentiful, there was no need for the side order of chips we placed, although they were very, very nice. The sandwich selection, the many cakes, and the four scones were very well presented and delicious. They were more than enough. The service was excellent too, nothing was too much trouble for the colleagues and they did everything they could to make it a memorable occasion. Thank you very much."

Great service and tasty food. Always opt for the sorbet between courses. Prawn and spinach fritters are a must order.

A lovely lunch in a glorious setting . The delicious food was served by friendly, smiling staff who could not be faulted.

The process of ordering was a little slow but staff were friendly. It is clearly marketed as an upmarket meal. I had the venison which was £29 for the main. A small portion but perfectly cooked. A very good selection of whiskeys available. A very... Voir le carte

Called in for a late snacky lunch. Service was a bit on the slow side although staff were pleasant enough. Soup and sandwich were ok but overpriced. Had to hunt for someone to pay when leaving. Lovely setting but needs to up it's standards to encourage more people to eat there.

Eaten here a few times, lunch and dinner. Prices high for what is offered. Had to season meals which I never do. Mille feuille to be avoided. Not appealing to the eye and the basil dribble is quite medicinal. However, the bread and sorbet are delicious. Waiting staff pretty good.

We had a nice sandwich lunch with coffee and cake in the café adjacent to the hotel. Friendly staff, good food and great sea view. The menu is good, however expensive for a sandwich lunch, I suspect that you are paying for the location and the sea view. There is a spacious outdoor patio area if you wish to eat outside. We had a confirmed reservation with the hotel which they chose to cancel because one of their guests chose to extend their stay. They absolutely refused to accept their fault and were rude and inconsiderate of the fact that this was cancelled without informing us or offering any alternatives. They absolutely ruined the start of our vacation. Please avoid this hotel if you want peace of mind

The attention to service has certainly improved since the last time I was here a few years back; however, the food's not great and is overpriced in some cases (and I'n being generous here and allowing for lockdown). The price of the venison a culled or farmed animal and not difficult to get (certainly not up here) is ludicrous; the cod and chips was almost devoid of cod a thin layer disguised by bloated batter; the prawn fritters were stodgy (not my definition of fritter, not even loosely); the absence of produce from the local loch was also mystifying, more so when I had been eating Melfort mussels in Edinburgh a few days earlier. I've been here several times over the last few years but I s...

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"
