In my opinion the Alpenhof is the best place in Murnau. It is advisable to make reservation. Food and service are excellent. However the prices are above average but it is worth the money.

We had breakfast here in October 2014 and it was fantastic, I would go as far to say one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. Fantastic choice, all very fresh and a chef to cook what you want also. Excellent Voir le carte

I visited business friends in the Alpenhof Murnau yesterday and was very surprised to see a totally renovated entrance aree, new reception desk area and a great bar/lobby lounge combination. Very nice furniture alpine chic, great lights, nice atmosphere and a full bar with 4 different local bavarian beers on tab, a whole variety of gins and whiskys and very friendly service - and on top a good playlist.Will be back for sure!

Having a birthday dinner here was one of the highlights of the occasion. Elegant ambiance and fantastic views from the terrace, unobtrusive service and small touches like silverware render it a very special place. Lamb and duck were delicious so were fish tartar and amuse-bouche. Menu now offers vegetarian dishes. We ate there several times during our stay at Alpenhof Murnau and were invariably impressed with the quality and level of cuisine.

We had high hopes for our diner here, because of the recent reviews and the appearance of the restaurant. Sorry to say that the restaurant did not meet our expectations. The food was just OK. Not in order with the prices we had to pay. The service was very slow and looked very unorganized. We had to wait for more than half an hour for our drinks, our food and even for our bill. We will not recommend this restaurant. Mind you, this review is about the restaurant not about the hotel. The hotel is absolutely great. Voir le carte

We stayed at the hotel again and chose to eat in this time. The menu was good and filled with local dishes. We were also impressed with the wine list. Service was initially attentive and the food was cooked and presented to a very high standard. The restaurant was very busy but the terrace was an excellent place to sit and eat dinner. The only negative aspect of the meal was that we had to wait an hour between main course and dessert and the waiter seemed to have forgotten us. However it did not spoil the evening as the weather was great and we happy to sit and on the terrace.

Booked into this great hotel and decided to have dinner here.Firstly I felt like a drink so I asked for the wine list omg unbelievable and the sommelier Philipp Schneider what this guy doesn't know about local and imported wine isn't worth knowing. Ask for him.Now the restaurant what a great place to eat , service fantastic and good English I had the Deer TarTar with ice cream and pumpkin purée delicious, my wife and I both had the baby Veal Schnitzel it melted in our mouths. Alpenhof Murnau is a lovely member of the Relais/Chateaux association. It doesn't disappoint-- Murnau itself is a lovely town that attracted writers and painters like Kandinsky. Excellent rooms, suites, and the kitchen is outstanding. Both the "normal" dining and the gourmet restaurant have high (and delicious) standards and great service. The breakfast is one of the best I've experienced in Germany-- a beautiful buffet of all the "expected" items plus some Bavarian specialties-- like small weißwurst.
