"We were a midweek lunch party of 4 retirerees. Usually lunch at Crown and Sandys or Kings Arms Ombersley but fancied a change. Very disappointed indeed. Basically poor choice, small portions, long wait and no atmosphere. This huge place is beautifully appointed but there was absolutely no atmosphere on arrival and only 2 other diners on this occasion. No welcome whatsoever from the staff. We chose our table and eventually our food from the limited menu. I was told my choice which was a risotto was not available so went for next best choice which was lamb. In fact 3 of us went for the lamb and one had cod and chips. The food took an hour to appear at the table!! It was nice but nothing special. The lamb was nicely cooked but the vegetables were a joke! 4 tiny cubes of potato. 3 chunks of carrot and a tablespoon of beetroot purée plus another desert spoon of gravy jus. To make a meal you will need to order vegetables and potatoes as a side too making it a fairly expensive meal. We couldn't get out of there fast enough and decided to move on to Lord Mortons for coffee and desert. What a good choice. And what a lovely welcome from the man himself. We're going there for lunch too next time."

"I made a reservation online for a family meal at this restaurant for my husband. Unfortunately, we had to wait to be greeted upon arrival. Another family arrived after us and was seated before us in the waiting area. Finally, after waiting for a few minutes, we were shown to our table. It took a while for the server to ask us for our drink order, and even longer for our food order to be taken. When our starters arrived, we had been waiting for quite some time. There was a mix-up with some nuts that were brought to our table, which caused some confusion. The starters were alright and the main course followed shortly after. Overall, the food was tasty and the restaurant was busy. However, there seemed to be a shortage of staff and the service was lacking. We waited a long time to pay our bill and we felt somewhat ignored by the staff. I may consider dining here again in the future, but with so many other options available, I do not see a reason for a return visit soon."

"beautiful place and sympathetic furnishings. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the Sunday dinner. I have specifically asked for certain sweets to which I have a disgust, not to be served. but they were still on my teller. they were removed on request. the cauliflower cheese was poor and I was served only 3 pretty hard brat potatoes. if I had not been saved by my wife's Yorkshire doll, I would have had hunger. Finally, servier staff needed a reminder of the Dessert menu, as they seemed to forget us. if I had asked if I had enjoyed my lunch, I would have been honest and said no. but we weren't asked, so I'm here. that said the outside looks beautiful and looks like a nice place to drink on a warm sunny day."

"We were here on a midweek evening for a meal with friends. The outdoor area was packed with a private party for someone who worked at the Tap House. On one of the hottest evenings of the year, we were seated in a boiling hot dining room with no fan or aircon. The service was abysmally slow; our order was taken, but the food took a long time to arrive. It wasn't worth waiting for the meat was ok, but the chips were undercooked and bearing in mind the slow service, it didn't seem worth compaining. The beer very cheap, I admit was warm and watery. After our plates were cleared, no one came to ask if we wanted dessert until we caught the attention of the manager who wasn't even working that night. When we did get them, the desserts were pretty bland and mass produced. Really disappointed in teh quality, and the very young waitresses dressed in very casual torn shorts seemed overwhelmed."
