"When the sashimi course came out, a different staff member mentioned “beef croquet” while describing the dishes. This raised a red flag, so I asked another staff member about it. She reassured me that it was potato and leek croquet and definitely contained no beef, apologizing for the confusion. I felt a bit more at ease when I cut it open, as it looked like a typical croquet. However, when I started eating it, the flavor reminded me of beef, and it made me feel ill—I almost had to spit it out. My partner also tried the same dish but didn’t recall tasting any beef. Since I was cautious about beef, I was more sensitive to the taste. It's possible they fried it in the same oil; I'm not sure. We each ordered a robata and a sushi omakase, with five courses each, but many of the courses were the same, which was a bit disappointing. Because of the croquet incident and the similarities in the courses, I would say this event turned out to be a mixed experience. The food was mostly good, though some dishes were not quite up to par. While the pricing felt slightly on the high side, it is London, so I suppose that's to be expected. I was also disappointed that the staff didn’t check in on how we were enjoying the courses when taking dishes away, especially in a restaurant of this caliber. On a positive note, the cake was delicious, the sashimi was excellent, and the grilled items were good too. I did find it a bit odd that some of the items on the plate were just sauces; I wouldn't expect to drink sauce like a soup. As for the deep-fried tomato, I would have preferred chicken instead, but that’s a minor detail. I think it would be helpful for the restaurant to provide a menu card so that customers can enjoy their omakase experience, particularly if they have any allergies."

Went there with the lunch deal and the food was exceptional for the sashimi choice of bento! Really comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The building itself is amazing! A little pricey without the offer but definitely worth visiting the building itself.

I believe this is one of the best Japanese restaurants around. The atmosphere is inviting, the authentic Japanese decor adds to the charm, and the food is fresh and delicious. While the prices are not cheap, the quality justifies them. However, the constant flow of customers kept the waitstaff very busy, which led to some delays in service that I found a bit disappointing. The dining experience was very enjoyable. The restaurant is located above a charming little Japanese cultural center, which is worth a visit on its own. The service was good, but the staff could benefit from being more knowledgeable about the dishes and providing better explanations. The menu is somewhat pricey, which is likely in line with what you would expect from such a place. Please note that there is no children’s menu available.

The restaurant offers a large selection and a straightforward menu featuring sushi, skewers, and hot stone dishes. I highly recommend the chicken on the hot stone, which is delicious, and the chicken karrage, although be aware that the portions are quite large and some pieces have big bones. I would advise against the chicken skewer with plant sauce, as it had an unusual taste. However, the nigiri and maki are fantastic and definitely worth trying!

akira is excellent and, in contrast to what others might say below, excellent value for quality. we had the robuta 3 curs menu and it was more than enough to eat. the salad amusement beech was well executed, the bento was delightful and the meat course was grilled to perfection. for 60 quid it was a lot of buck for her buck, and the setting and service are great. desserts were also sublime, I would choose to make crepe cakes above the fondant, and they can make a bento for 20 pounds for lunch on Tues-Thurs... Value for omakase is great £60/£75). The difference between 3 course and 5 course sushi omakase is an appetiser and the bowl of the day was a very salty soup with a crispy prawn legs? not sure but if you only eat the prawn it’s great). They are not too “wow” and they are not filling either, so 3 course should be fine. Main course wise, if you get the robata course, you will still get 3 sushi with skewers served on stone. If you get sushi course, you get 8 piece of sushi, 3 of which overlap with the robata course, and a pan fried tomato rice. Therefore, value wise Robata course Sushi course.

Definately Japan House Londons ' best kept secret a stylishly inkeeping resturant, with 'Zen ' decor and a beatifully clean, quite kitchen to watch and admire the artisan chefs at their craft. The dishes were delicious, especially the fresh produce for the starters, and the additional teas and puddings did not dissapoint. I invited my mother and brother along, celebrating his birthday , and they surprsised him with 'Happy Birthday ' written in chocolate icing on the dessert tray, nice touch head waiter (clearly listening) which impressed him no end! We will certainly be back to try the many dishes on offer here! Ps The Loos are a luxury so dont forget to visit the Lavatory!!!
