We visited recently, as this was my favourite chippy back in the day. Unfortunately it really wasn’t what it used to be, the fish was good but the chips were pale, and the gravy was watered down to an inch of its life. The curry sauce was sadly the same, very watery and very bland :

They always make the fish chips fresh to order. We phoned our order through and it was ready as they said, 10 minutes later, when we arrived to collect. The fish batter is crispy and the fish itself taste excellent. Chips were not dry, perfectly done. All in all, the best chippy in town.

I have had the pleasure of being present when this place was first opened some 35years ago. I was also present when the present owners, A J K, took over and made this place one of the leading fish and chips outlet. It has very...recently been refurbished and now also boost a sitting area where you can enjoy your meal. I have never been disappointed with the food, always freshly prepared, or the friendly disposition of the owners and the staff. Highly recommended.,

a slightly broken fish with a regular part of chips ordered and a tub of heap and curry. when never visited, the portion sizes are huge. beautiful huge broken cod with a massive part of chips. there are only 2 people, maybe 3 people, if they are not...massive eaters. other local chip shops, do not havn in the position to obtain cod due to the massive increased prices. Miss ajk was closed for a few weeks, due to ramadam and id, without any doubt have others too. prices have risen as expected. but at £10, for quality food that feeds more than one to us is very recoverable.

Always good food at AJK's whenever I go. I'm not the only one who believes this is one of the best chippys in Lancashire. Started off great and has not stopped. So popular, AJK's now also has an adjoining sit down eaterie, the only thing...that has stopped me giving 5 stars is that understandably because of popularity it takes a long time to get your order, even if its ordered in advance or by phone, and the unpredictable opening times, sometimes not for days. The other thing, which is just probably me, is that I think the fish tasted better before the refurb, but again thats just probably me. Voir le carte
