"Schloß Prielau / Restaurant Mayer are a charming combination of unexpected quality. Coming late in an autumn week I was possibly the only hotel guest and certainly the only diner. Despite the fact that the hosts could have suggested I eat elsewhere, I was made most welcome in a restaurant with a modern ambience but a touch of Austrian gemütlichkeit as well. The service left nothing to be desired; “höflich und freundlich” in the best top-end Austrian tradition. I was rather ambitious and took a six course degustation menu. Each course bought together innovative combinations of interesting tastes and textures with impeccable presentation. The host also matched local wines (and in conclusion Schnaps) to perfectly match the meal. I have “suffered” culinary innovation in the past, from Chef’s whose ambitions to bring together novel combinations of ingredients is not matched by their ability to deliver well balanced experiences. Nothing could have been further from the case with this meal, with each of the items being thoughtfully architected to surprise and delight. One example was foie-gras gently fried, as traditional paste and as an ice cream with some – all with different flavour nuances and texture; and some cocoa/chocolate as one of a number of a delicate garnishes. On ski leave, with very good friends, including a friend from the chef. So we were extracted in the luxury cottons from amuse to dessert. Really delicious.

dishes and services are excellent; the prices are slightly expensive but value. This quality is also in us. Like a piece of art of every meal, the original until you eat.

Came here as a birthday celebration, we were staying just down the road in a chalet. Firstly, this was quite expensive but wow the food was lovely, very attentive, had some very strange but delicious combinations. Couldnt justify doing this every day but to celebrate a birthday during a lovely skiing week - just couldnt beat it.

mayer’s speaks for quality, that is clear. but with a restaurant with 2 hoods or 16 points are assumed anyway. the suggestion that the culinary details come from but takes place on 4 hood level, the personal "affects through the evening." white gloves, the selected courses come in amuse leg size therefore and that the question of the price of a glass open wein is simply answered with a "that we do then already" is unheard. as a hospitable, I also want to know at this level what I pay. Terrible! Don't go! We've been to high-school restaurants on several occasions, so we've been preparing for the party! We decided to celebrate Christmas. We were offered a major menu and a special menu for this day. The husband took a menu of eight nets, of which he was more or less interested in two meals, the first and the last. When the hot case was brought, when it was on the plate, it fell apart because it wasn't cooked. The waitress thought she'd put all this on top of the hot chocolate, and she's gone!
