"Really need to day a massive thankyou to the Trevor Arms Marford for looking after myself and my neice when my car broke down today nearly on A483 carriageway but managed to get to their establishment which we were stranded for 4 half hours waiting on recovery on the 13/10/23 but what made it easier was having such pleasant kind caring thoughtful staff and landlord that welcomed us made us feel at home warm safe and kept us in drinks beautiful food Thankyou so so much I'll forever be grateful we will most certainly See you soon Xxxx"

"I was really disappointed last night when I went to a restaurant I have visited a couple of times recently and had enjoyed the food. However, last night we had booked a table for 6 people to celebrate my son's birthday. When we arrived, we were given a limited menu with only 5 or 6 options for starters and mains, and 3 dessert choices. We ordered drinks and were later informed that some items were not available as they had run out of 2 starters and all mains except for burgers or fish and chips. Despite the restaurant being quiet at 7pm, we decided to finish our drinks and go elsewhere. The staff then offered us other off-menu options like chicken, gammon, or lamb rump to convince us to stay. We decided to stay and ordered our food. The starters were good, but the burgers were dry and burnt. The gammon and rump were delicious, but when we tried to order more drinks, they had also run out of several items. To top it off, my husband found a false eyelash folded in his napkin."

"Called in 2 nights ago. Have to say this place didnt look set up as the perfect eating place upon arrival, as wede booked a table and no table was set up for us. The gentleman handed out the menu and explained the extras he had. Then came back to take our order. What a great guy, absolute gent! Not often I say that. He really was a legend So I ordered steak medium and when it arrived it was perfect!!!! A really really lovely meal had by myself and partner, he had slow cooked beef. Really lovely and will def go back xxx"

"We had booked a table for 2 at 4.00pm on a Wednesday afternoon and as such were the only people in the restaurant. Whilst the food was good, using the lunch menu of 2 courses for £8.95, the staff was hard to find. I had to go searching the corridors to find someone to let them know we were there, and then go searching again to ask for our bill! When she did come to the restaurant, the waitress was friendly and pleasant. Perhaps they could have a bell for customers to ring on the bar? Otherwise, we enjoyed our meal despite the lack of attention."

"I attended a breakfast meeting with my colleagues last week, and we had a wonderful experience. Our waitress, Alex, was delightful; she kept our cups filled with tea and coffee, engaged in conversation, and was genuinely charming and well-presented. It was clear that she truly enjoyed taking care of us, rather than just going through the motions of her job. The food was excellent, with generous portions that were worth the price. I can definitely see myself becoming a regular here!"

"Have sat in and the food and coffee were excellent. Having trouble with their coffee machine and got it working but staff very apologetic and very attentive. Food is excellent Have also attended a buffet supplied by them. Left the best until last match day hotdog! "we visited this place in summer and had some fantastic meals here. we decided to go Sunday dinner too and we were not disappointed! cork that melts in mouth (they use rib eye) . nice friendly staff. only negative is the garden could do with a bit tlc, but I'm sure they get this right for the next year. recommend defo!"

"Haven’t visited this place for a long while and unfortunately after our experience I won’t be rushing to return. Such a shame as previously had really good times here. We arrived and the staff on the bar were to be fair very helpful and saw to us straight away, we informed them we had a table booked and she took us straight through, telling us we could place an order for drinks at the table and that it would be table service. They didn’t actually come to take our drinks order for over 20 minutes. Finally took our drink order and then had another 25 minute wait until the drinks arrived! In this time we had placed our food order and it was only that I asked the waiter taking the food order where our drinks were that he went to check. Otherwise, who knows how long we would have waited! Water was requested and arrived room temperature with red hot glasses straight out of the dishwasher, the result being Luke warm table water. No ice was offered. The food was VERY slow to arrive, we only ordered one course but we waited 50 minutes from ordering to the food actually arriving. And when it did it was Luke warm, and tasteless. I had the lentil and mushroom tagliatelle which was a tiny portion at a whopping £16, Luke warm and with absolutely no flavour at all. The other main ordered was nut roast, which looked nice however the feedback was that the nut roast was like packet sage and onion stuffing mix with some nuts sprinkled on top. Unfortunately we won’t be returning. Food was overpriced, Luke warm, small portions, long waiting times and seriously bland. Someone needs to buy them some herbs and spices and get some depth of flavour in those dishes!"

"We popped in for our first visit to The White Horse in Overton today, having been to look at the inexplicably slow progress on our house build nearby. And, we were mighty glad we did! This will definitely become our new local, once we finally move into the area. Dog-friendly too, hurrah! Our meals were superb. Husband is an ex-chef/restrauter himself, so we know when our food has been prepared and cooked well. Andy is their new chef, we were told, and his menu is all about good, traditional pub food, done exceptionally well. The fresh ham hock terrine was beautifully hand made and served with Andy 's own deliciously piquant piccalilli. The sausages and mash were cooked to perfection and made us determined to visit 'Evans the Butcher ' two doors down, to see what other delicious treats might be in store. The chicken curry was tasty and authentic, served with warm, moist naan breads. We both opted for puddings and were served with more wonderful local produce, scrummy honeycomb ice cream to accompany the sticky toffee pudding. The fruit pavlova was fresh and light, perfect to round off a summer supper. Since Andy can cook so beautifully, it would have been wonderful if he 'd made the meringue himself but we know that is asking a lot. I must finally mention Sam, our barman/waiter. What a superbly competent, polished young man he is. A real find. We hope his manager appreciates what an asset Sam is to the business. In such trying times for hospitalty generally, Sam is a genuinely talented team member, with huge future potential. Thanks to Andy and Sam, we 'll definitely be back, very soon."

"Despite Plas Coch being really busy they were able to get us a table. Staff were very friendly helpful and attentive. Food was absolutely brilliant and service was great. "Wedding Anniversary overnight stay. Great surroundings. Meet greet superb. Food. Absolutely dreadful. Asked at 5 o 'clock for the dinner menu and told the Chef was preparing it. Went tin to restaurant at 7. 5 of the 6 choices (see photo) for dinner was frozen food. No peppercorn sauce, cheesecake or syrup sponge. The deep fried sausages in the sausage and mash should only be used in hand to hand combat. The triangular preformed frozen fish and frozen chips left a lot to be desired. In all an anniversary meal we will always remember for the wrong reasons. It was a continental breakfast in the morning as I think they just couldn 't be bothered to cook anything. If you stay in this quiet, relaxing , rural hotel. EAT OUT."

"We visited twice last week as we were on a holiday on the Llangollen canal. On entering we were met by two friendly staff,who chatted to us as we ordered drinks, I had noticed the Bikers welcome sign outside , and as an ex-biker was pleased to see it. We myself, wife and 3 grandsons) ordered meals and drinks. I had the fish and chips,wife and eldest GS had chicken and two younger GS the kids I think) lasagne. All meals well cooked and the 2 youngest jokingly lick their plates ugh). Bill came to £38 plus two more rounds of drinks. The food and staff were all excellent but the view towards the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is stunning. We have been to some drinking places with great views around the World in Australia,USA and Europe) but this is one of the most picturesque I have seen. We revisited the following day on our return down the cut, but just had drinks, as we had eaten in Trevor. See review of Telford Inn."

"Firstly this is my take on the strawberry fields break fast and everyone has different views.Restaurant was not busy as we were early, and our food took about 15 ish mins, it was freshly cooked.Outstanding items to me were the black pudding and the sausage (although if a choice I would not choose a leek sausage)Tomato, toast, egg and bacon, these items were nicely seasoned and cooked.Letting the dish down in my view were the mushrooms and beans to me both these items appeared tasteless.Value for money yes, when all the items are tasty."

"We called here for a lunch out of the blue. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. It took ages to be served at the bar for drinks although it wasn't that busy, the food took around an hour to come and some of it was wrong, we overheard one member of staff speaking rather unprofessionally to another table as they were adamant they had not made a mistake but judging by our meal being slightly wrong they probably had. Two of the meals didn't come with what they were supposed to via the menu. Two puddings came out but mine didn't for another 10-15mins or so by which point the other two had finished theirs as it was going cold. Overall we were quite disappointed and I'm not sure we will return. It's a shame as the decor was quite nice and it was overlooking some lovely views."

"I have been thinking about this review for a bit of time . We had a christening cake made here and it looked amazing had all the wow factor you expect from a £100 cake and then there is the taste . Don't get me wrong it wasn't a bad cake the chocolate level was nice enjoyed by all but was Notting different than what you could buy from a local supermarket . The cookie and cream level was not good was very dry and the taste was just so sweet it may be it just was not mine or are guests cup of tea . I dident return it as by the time I came to have some it had been given out and a lot of the cookie and cream level ended in the bin ."

"My family and I had a lovely curry evening to celebrate a family birthday. We ordered drinks to start with and then ordered starters, we did not feel under any pressure to order unlike other Indian restaurants in Wrexham where we have felt rather rushed,...start to finish. The seating area is clean and comfortable and the atmosphere is relaxed. We had poppadoms to start with, together with nice dips, followed by a lovely vegetable selection. For main course I had a chicken Madras, which was extremely tasty. My wife asked if the chef could make the lamb and chickpea curry with king prawns instead and this was no problem at all. My wife said the curry was beautiful and fresh tasting. Two of my daughters had chicken tikka masala, again good reviews and our youngest daughter had chicken korma. Great food we all had clean plates. Staff were very friendly and even surprised us with a cake and candles. My family had a great time and good value for money. Many Thanks to Malik and the team. "We visited with work for the second time. Last year I was kept waiting for half an hour for my veggie meal and everyone else had finished. This year I arrived 20 minutes early and ordered mine but it was still well over half an hour for me to wait and yet again my vegetables had gone cold and everyone else had eaten. The other thing I didn’t like was the only choice of vegetarian meal which was ratatouille and goats cheese spring roll. I don’t like goats cheese and the roll had gone soggy in the bowl of wet ratatouille. As a vegetarian I like to eat with everyone else but it was a disappointing separate meal that didn’t go with turkey trimmings. Why can’t they do but roast or a mushroom wellington with vegetarian gravy? I was very disappointed and won’t be returning for the third year in a row."
