"a pleasant enough Friday evening friendly (senior) staff, good use. as usual, the blackboard was the first control preference for the expectation that it is fresh and probably imaginative. the smoked duck starter was excellent. sadly, the same could not be proved by the crab cakes: hardly a crumb meat in, only kartoffel and a bit overboiled anyway (lightly burned) and clone. the sweet chili sauce was from the bottle and more or less tasteless no recognizable chili! the dish would be a sweat in boston, mass. the most important, baked sea stream fillings, was dry, overboiled. it seemed as if it had been prepared and reheated in advance. what a waste of good fishing. the sea of the sauce was a surprise. but the parmese crust was a strange group of lumps on one, although an identifiable cake on the other counts as crust?' to be honest, I found it sick. the nice servier dish (stainless steel) was not cleaned in the old from many on squirting baked. if food is to be cooked in such things, it must be served in a clean one. the kartoffels were underdonated and barely dulled on a few top edges. that said the primitivo was a very good wine for the price. However, the lad that served him had to be shown where and how to open the glasses, how to open the bottle, and how to offer the taste. he didn't seem too focused on learning. the other lad has to be shown how to put cutlery: knife and fork was one on the left and one on the right; messer ein, messer aus. ok, the personal to get is hard, but the basic training? odd, although we were served by 5 different employees, of which two (the seniors) knew what they did. the lemon sorbet' was not sorbet, there were a few fat elements. it was pleasant enough, very pleasant, only not what was expected. the coffee was good. the music was just a bit too loud and intrusive, and not restful by an unfortunate style ( whatever it should be). that was not a cash setting. I usually go to Italian restaurants, very foreseeable to be good: they know what is to be expected from the whole menu. I'm sorry, it's not this time."

"We've visited Weymouth for many years always fancied trying the Red Lion. This year for the first time there was free tables outside, so finally we got to try it out. Would love to say it was worth all the waiting however I found it a poor experience that I'll not be repeating. Started off well barman who served us was polite so credit to him. Whilst having our drink there was an older lady sat at next table, her daughter arrived with her 2 children who looked around 7-10 ages. It soon became apparent that children are not permitted. That is acceptable obviously needs to be adhered too. Was is unacceptable was the manner in which the situation was handled! The poor woman was literally pounced upon immediately told children are not permitted, not told in a polite manner or quietly. The young man who spoke to her was loud in doing so, the grandmother tried to apologise explain they weren't aware. He refused to move until mom children left stared intently whilst they left. We felt embarrassed so I'm sure the ladies would have too. There are ways means to deal with situations to speak to people, this I felt was unacceptable. There is a small sign to say no children but only at the back of the beer garden not the front which is the direction they cane from. Whilst I was appalled by this I was soon be be disgusted further! The chef complete in all cooking attire cane out of the pub complete with cigarette box lighter. He proceeded to smoke at the side of the pub. Disgusting not at all good practice, pretty certain it's still a food safety guidelines breach as wearing in full cooking attire. Needless to say we soon drank up left. Can honestly say will not be returning our visit maybe shows why not so popular as in previous years. Perhaps management need to make signage clearer arrange some further training on etiquette."

"We visited today with our 2 young children. The 'soft play ' area is a fenced off carpeted area with a few totally filthy sofas and some toys- almost all of which are broken, missing pieces, ran out of battery, etc. Some complete puzzles are nailed to the wall, but confusingly so high up to be out of most childrens reach. Lots and lots of clearly 2nd/3rd/4th hand/ fit for the dump plastic slides, pushalongs etc, plus a small wooden playhouse with badly splintered wood and clearly visible screws. The slide on it had a large and sharp crack in the side. Needless to say we didnt stay very long. I did purchase a small item for my daughter and while waiting in the queue I heard the woman taking the order be INCREDIBLY rude to the ladies she was serving. They asked, very politely and reasonably, if a dish could be altered slightly and was told 'No. Im the cook and no way. ' They then asked for an Oasis drink. She said 'Well yeah you can get that yourself cause like I 'm pregnant! Now is that it? '. I personally worked a very physically demanding job until well into my 3rd trimester- with both children, as was my choice. If the woman serving felt that walking 8 steps to her right and opening a fridge to lift a small bottle from an elbow height shelf was physically beyond her then perhaps she needs to consider whether shes fit to be at work at all. If I 'd been spoken to that I would have cancelled the entire order (of considerable size, at over £40) and just left. Pregnant or not, there was no excuse for being that rude. Be warned, this isnt soft play- its like a graveyard for rejected, old, sad and broken toys, and its filthy. Some of the items inside looked like they hadnt even had a cursory wipe in at least 6 months! Both children will no doubt both have colds in a few days time. Avoid!"

"The name of this tea room definitely stood out on the map of Weymouth! I looked it up before I came and read excellent reviews....and here's another! I was especially interested to read that they are very considerate of special diets and having had lunch here 2 days in a row during my short break, I can confirm this to be true. This tea room is very popular and it's easy to see why! It can be difficult to get a table but I was lucky on my 2 visits. You're given a very warm welcome on arrival and then you choose where you'd like to sit. It's table service here and they take payment as soon as you've finished placing your order. On my first visit, a member of staff made time to answer my questions about potential allergens in items on the menu despite it being so busy. They have a very extensive menu here. NOTE: The vegan cheese they use here is Violife. The chips are cooked separately from other menu items. The ham is from a local butcher. This information helped me make an informed decision and I was comfortably able to choose things to eat. The portions are very generous and everything was absolutely delicious! I didn't have to wait long for my order on both occasions. The tea room is in a lovely location opposite the sea front. I loved it here and I highly recommend it! I'll definitely be back should I have an opportunity to visit Weymouth again in the future. Absolutely fantastic!"
