"wow, what a jewel! my wife and I ate on Sunday afternoon on this “plum” of a restaurant. I was amazed to have studied the menu before booking to see that a very large of the dishes in the offer shown free as gluten, something that has now paramount recently been diagnosed with celiac disease. there was a free dish served by popcorn, which had been aromatized with its own wobble the flavor of the restaurant, which was a real tastener. we followed with the curry goat, which served as a generous part, reisbäsen, a part curry goat gravy, jerk ripen, plantain, homemade coleslaw, and fries, who had blown the same twist of hurdles as the popcorn on them. we also chose some of the immersing sauces to give an additional hauch of choking only for the case. we have the idea of ordering also a plastered steak (they know how it is when they are really hungry), but were recommended against this by the dame who advised our order that the portions were quite generous and we had ordered a lot, and moreover we could always add to the order when our food had arrived. we also ordered a bottle of pino grigio to ash it al down. What do you want me to say? this was by far the best tasting and well cooked and served Caribbean cuisine that we have experienced, it was exceptional. we had no place for a pudding, but there was a lot to choose on the menu. When the bill came, we were thrilled and amazed that it all came around 60, which also excellent price-performance ratio. we will definitely be back, I recommend this jewel. enjoys!"

"I would have liked to give this popular venue 3.5 stars if it were possible because, although decidedly unspectacular in terms of the food, I believe it is filling exactly the niche its proprietors intend and is therefore just that bit above average. It is surprising to find a place like The Pumphouse at Nene Court. Going by the general vibe of the shops and businesses there, you would expect to find an upmarket (or at least 'gentrified ' delicatessen or coffee-shop here but, whilst The Pumphouse looks quite grand from the outside, inside it has the stark atmosphere of a canteen/dining hall. As others have observed, it appears a little down-at-heel and utilitarian in décor. However, as far as I could see, it was perfectly clean and hygienic and its resemblance to what we used to call a 'greasy spoon ' is superficial. There is an extensive menu, taking in fry-ups, sandwiches/panini and a range of lunch dishes of the type you might find in a pub-grub menu. The prices are very competitive. I found the service brisk and cheerful. The food I ate was tasty enough and perfectly well made but unexciting, matching perfectly the down-to-Earth atmosphere of the cafe. If you are looking for no frills, competitively priced, reasonably tasty but modest food in an unpretentious environment (and sometimes I am , then this will be spot on. My only disappointment on the day was that, based on the location, I was anticipating something rather different. A solid average."

"I have been searching for a venue to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday next year. He is of Jamaican descent, and we found June Plum and decided to take him there for a meal this year. Upon our arrival at 5:15pm, my daughter gave a cake to a staff member to hide in the kitchen as a surprise for my husband. We requested to place our food order at 5:25pm, but even after our drinks order had been taken and served, our food order was not taken. After a second request, we finally placed our food order. By 6:15pm, we still had not received our food and when we inquired about the delay, we were given a story about the table before us still not being served. At this time, there were only them and us in the restaurant. We were told maybe another 15 minutes for our food, but by 6:30pm, we were still waiting. The front of house manager apologized and could not give us a definite time for our food, mentioning that the table before us would take another 10-15 minutes. After two hours of waiting, we were still not able to eat. The staff mentioned attending a cricket match the day before, but we were unsure how that was relevant to our wait. When we finally asked for the bill and received it along with the surprise birthday cake for my husband, which was supposed to be a surprise, we were disappointed. Although the front of house manager apologized and offered us the drinks on the house, we have decided not to return to June Plum and will not be booking it for my husband's 60th birthday meal. While we appreciate supporting small businesses, we cannot tolerate such long waits for service."
