"Called in as a last minute option, as the kid was hungry. Did call and book a table just in case. Which is a good job as the first thing we were asked is have you booked? not sure why as there weren 't anymore than 6 or 7 tables the entire time we were there. The food was okay, kind of what you 'd expect from a pub nothing special. We had: Garlic pizza bread to nibble, asked for no cheese or tomato as the kid isn 't a fan.... We must of somehow asked for extra extra garlic as what we got was a small (7 max circle of overcooked dough with so much garlic I never have to fear vampires again. Pork Belly, to which the wife said was nice but the red cabbage with cinnamon was more cinnamon with red cabbage and the mash potato needs to be cut with a knife. The sauce was delicious apparently though. Steak pie, as you 'd expect from a low end pub meal, nothing spectacular. The star of the show SHOULD have been the triple cooked chips....... Skin on chips would describe them best. For me, a triple cooked chip is light and fluffy with a crisp outer, not a soggy skin on chip. Kind had buttermilk chicken breast and chips (which were the same as my triple cooked chips so..... .... To describe the chicken more accurately go and Google bird 's-eye chicken fingers. Desserts were okay. Sticky toffee with custard. Orange brownie with ice cream, kids brownie and ice cream (same as the orange brownie . Overall super disappointed with the food, over £70 for low end pub food in my opinion. I would have let the waitress know this IF they could have been bothered with a check back to see how we were getting on. To be honest l, any level of service would have been appreciated, no check back, took an age to order (did get an apology at the start for that ages to clear after each course and took the Micheal trying to order puddings, to the point I got sick of them wiling tables around us, and asked to order to which I recieved yep, bear with me . Sorry I 've already waiting 10 minutes to order and now you want me to wait until its convenient for you? Poor. We left a tip, purely because the kid made a mess and was running around like a little...... But then again when he 's sat waiting for an age for stuff to come and be cleared who can blame him? Overall, really really poor and not what it used to be."

"Terrible service and SOME staff simply do not care, I was waiting 30mins between drinks. Customers were getting up and walking off. Apparently the Kings had been hit with covid and had a function on so staff were sent there. Great so the pub that has got quieter due to people not returning it is getting even worse. At one point a girl came out with drinks then went back inside for the card machine and then we tried to order and she said oh I will go get my pen and pad. That's 3 trips when 1 was needed, she never returned! Another person said its not my fault I am just filling in form Fernandes, she got the order wrong 3 times and it was only 2 drinks. One of the party ordered on the app and had to go inside to see why a 25min delay, the ticket was there on the bar in full view but no drinks ready. There was no management that we saw and there was only 7 tables outside occupied with 4 staff looking after them. If I make the effort to return after several bad experiences then I think they should make the effort and serve me. The Tap and 42 do a cracking job on less staff but there is built in apathy at the Brewers. They did nothing to clean the place and brighten it up during lockdown that coupled with constant poor service means people who have been regulars 3 to 4 times a week for 15 years are not going there anymore. Its nickname amongst these people is the Sh1t H5le for obvious reasons. Ossett brewery get a grip pls. On a foot note about 8pm a guy with long hair and boots came out and did his very best to put things right, he had some omph about him and went around every table, well done that man, thank you very much. If one can do it why cant the others?"

"I had heard great things about this restaurant and my partner had visited before and had a positive experience. So, I decided to take her there for a birthday breakfast on Sunday, October 15th, 2023. When we arrived, we were initially told there were no tables available, but another staff member informed us that there was room in the outdoor tent-like facility. Once we were seated, we were told that we only had the table until 12:30. We didn't mind since we were only having breakfast and it was around 11:15 at that time. However, we waited 25 minutes without anyone taking our drinks order, and noticed that other tables were experiencing similar delays. Our table was dirty and a more experienced staff member was questioning a young waitress about why the tables were not cleaned. The waitress said she didn't have a cloth, so she didn't clean them. We ordered our food and drinks to avoid further waiting as our table was needed at 12:30. We asked for extra bacon and feta with one of the dishes, but it didn't arrive. When we brought this up to the waitress, she seemed confused and walked away without explanation. We had three dishes ordered, all of which were now cold on the table. I spoke to another waitress in the main building and explained the situation. She apologized and said the extras were being cooked. However, when the extras finally arrived, the rest of the meal was cold and inedible. The additional dish of bacon and feta finally came, and the other meals were taken away to be reheated. At the end of the meal, we were told the cost of the extra ingredients would be removed from our bill, but when we checked, we had been charged for everything. The waitress seemed panicked and unsure of what to do when we pointed this out. We ended up paying the total bill and leaving. This experience was disappointing and frustrating. I have worked in hospitality for over 10 years and understand the challenges in the industry. It was clear that the young waitress needed more training and mentoring before being left to manage tables on her own. This experience has deterred me from returning in the future."

"We were fancying trying somewhere new, and after searching TripAdvisor for local restaurants I came across The Plough Inn. The reviews seemed good, with only the odd bad one, so we decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed. We received a warm friendly greeting yes we had to wait a few minutes first as the staff were serving other customers, but that’s called good manners! I had phoned earlier and booked a table, (thankfully, and I’d advise you to do the same) and initially we were shown to a table near the door, which was not ideal. The waitress was on the ball though and noticed our disappointment, immediately offering us another table near the top of the restaurant area, all we had to do was wait a few minutes longer whilst she cleaned and reset it as the previous customers had just left. Good customer service The restaurant is a classic “Inn” and is decorated in the traditional style with lots of wood panelling, however it doesn’t look dated and it is very clean. We both ordered from the specials board, unfortunately we both wanted the ribs and they only had 1 left. I haven’t survived 36 years of marriage by being stupid my wife had the ribs and I ordered the rib eye steak! Both meals were cooked to perfection. The chef even came out to check we were enjoying our meals. We had the main courses, desserts, a bottle of wine and a coffee all for less than £50. Fantastic value. We were even given a free glass of Prosecco! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming we felt like we’d been going there for years. I have a feeling we shall be returning many more times when we fancy eating out."
